i have a needle that was used once maybe like six months ago, if the person who used it had hep or HIV would the virus still be active?

yeah thats what i said. I dont shoot but my friend was considering using it. The person who used it the first time doesnt have anything either, but it got me wondering.

Yeah I would really advise against it, you never know what could potentially happen. Best to play it safe and find a clean spike or use a different ROA this time.

Please do not re-use an old needle used by someone else you have no idea what they could have. While your chances of getting aids from it are pretty much nil there are a host of other BBP's you could get and the potential for an infection is pretty great to. I mean I don't know where most people get their needles from but I mean I order mine off of medical supply websites and they're really fucking cheap (not an IV drug user (though I have imed a few opiates) just have a passion for body modification and I love play piercing granted they're just the needles but I see syringes too) so theres really no reason to re-use old needles. It's just asking for trouble.

Also I'd recommend never sharing a needle with anyone save a fluid exchange sexual partner if you really need to (because then it doesn't matter much if they got something you're bound to get it either way but keep in mind a needle once opened is no longer sterile and the risk for infection rises dramatically), even if you don't think they have anything you never really know most people aren't so forthcoming about it or hell they may not even know.

I just hope this doesn't come across as me having some sort of bias against IV drug use because I don't I don't think theres anything wrong with it as long as you're safe and responsible about it.

But yeah if you don't have any access to clean needles please find another ROA.

Firstly: NEVER re-use a needle.
Secondly: HIV cannot survive outside the body for more than a few hours. Hep A can live for several months, Hep B for up to a week, and Hep C, between 16 hours and four days depending on environmental factors.
Lastly: NEVER re-use a needle!

i dont recommend reusing a rig, but if its absolutely necessary, draw up some bleach and squirt it out like 10 times, then do the same thing with water to rinse out the bleach. Really though, if you need one that bad, just go to walgreens or something

Bleach DOES NOT sanitize unless the surface of whatever needs to be cleaned is exposed to full-strength bleach for at least 20 minutes.
