i picked up serato scratch way earlier than most of my local peers, but i've been much slower to adopt controller technology due to my affinity for vinyl and turntables. i finally caved and bought a VCI-300 mkII. it's a tried and tested piece of gear and it was designed specifically to work with serato software, so i felt pretty comfortable with the purchase. exactly one week into ownership i have to say it's pretty fucking bad ass.
i know there are plenty of other people here using controllers, so what is everyone else out there rocking and how is it working out for you? i'm interested to hear about the hercules, numark (the NS7 especially), denon, or even other vestax models like the VCI-100. have you played any big shows with these things? are purists giving you a hard time for using a controller? what bags or cases are you using to safely haul your gear out to gigs?
tips and tricks would also be awesome. here is a cool article i was reading about some secret features in serato itch: 3 hidden tricks in itch
(i've been loving djtechtools as a resource for digital DJs)
it's been a while since i visited this site but hopefully there are still a few people around who can drop some knowledge
