I just switched insurances and they won't pay for my Oxycontin. It's still under Patent. What would be an equivalent to Oxycontin 30mg? Any Opioid well do except shitty Morphine. Dr is old and we'll except my input, so i want something good like Opana or ? I know there's a lot of smart mother fuckers her so any help would be appreciated. And does it translate mg for mg?

it matters.

What does it matter if the doctor is old, just ask him what you need and if you need it then you should get it. Otherwise http://taimapedia.org/index.php?title=Opioid_comparison_chart
cause he basically doesn't care about shit but getting paid, peroid, where as everyother young dr wants to grill you over anything stronger than aspirin. i'm already on ir 10 mg for breakthrough pain. guess there isn't any smart people here anymore......

^no. They wouldn't. Crazy short half life compared to OxyContin. Oxymorphone is much stronger, so maybe a smaller dose of that in ER form.

^sometimes you have to be the smart one..
for instance - clicking the link in The Dr's reply to your original post would give to you
every bit of information you asked for..
the smart ones here became smart by taking the information given -
and using it to find their own answers.
good luck op.

maybe one of the smaller sized opanas? ^or have him stabilize you on oxy IR, there is always mscontin, methadone, lots of options out there. is it super expensive to get it filled otherwise?

I'm sorry but I don't get it. Does your insurance only pay for generics? I used to have the big Blue and was on a bunch of Oxycontin about 2-3 years ago and they would not pay for it either, under regular circumstances. However, they did allow the Dr. to submit an "override" request, which was always accepted and I'd get my 120 of the 80mg variety. Maybe your insurance is the same way. It's definitely worth making some calls and probing your options.

On another note, I was switched to Opana ER last year and it's twice as stronger. So, Opana 40mg pills are the same as 80my Oxy. I believe the Dilaudid's require even less than that but you can check the conversion tables to be sure. Good Luck and please don't come on here and start off my dissing everyone. Much better to go with the honey over vinegar approach. You know, stroke don't poke (LOL).

^ that's a great point, really.
insurance co.'s will take every chance they're given to screw you.
finding out what can be done to override their 1st decision
might be a great choice if oc's work for you & your md. is friendly.

^another good point. a lot of members spend a decent amount of time here. honey + time to answer might be a better approach.
