Gawd I love this forum. I've been pokin' my nose around in here for a while and joined just recently. I feel quite at home amongst all the freaks here. Hope to get to know more of ya'll as we share this cell.

No waayyy, so are you guys getting the spotlight after the whole Aron Ralston thing?

Been there a few times in real life, awesome piece o land you got over there. Utah as a whole, actually. Beautiful state (geographically). In my younger days I lived/backpacked out of the wilderness outside of Duchesne. It was one of those 'wilderness therapy programs' or whatever they call them these days.

I'm pretty hooked into the Canyoneering scene. After the Aron Ralston incident I went and hiked through that canyon. I was there two weeks after it happened and the chipping into the walls of the sandstone were still very visible. Very beautiful canyon. Personally I think Aron is a douche.

Anyway I hope your backpacking trip was NORTH of Duchesne, because anything SOUTH of there is a barren wasteland until you get to Arches Nat'l Park - about 150 miles away. =D

I think these days they called it Second Nature. Second Nature is a wilderness therapy program that provides psychoeducation, sophisticated and individualized therapy, and wilderness realism to highlight choices and consequences for your troubled teen, which aids in guiding students toward long term ambitions. Here is a page that provides information on wilderness camp therapy programs.
