transferred two cubes of ice
from a tall narrow water glass
(which reminds me of the women in this town)
to the stumpy shallow of a coffee mug
(which reminds me of the men)
I am pretty handy with a spoon, though I'd rather not say why. The women here are tall and narrow. Except when they are pregnant, which seems to be often. Or after a meal, sunning themselves like snakes.
Tall and narrow and clear like water, their eyes. All this fresh corn and clean air keeps their eyes clear, which only makes everything about them more obvious right off the bat.
They are beautiful and as I said mostly pregnant. There seems to be an awful lot of sex going on around here. All after the sun goes down I am sure. The womens bellies poke out from under shirts like guilty turtles just to prove it.
It must be that bone dry aerobic sex that takes place in cornfields or in the back seat of a dust El Dorado, cause there sure isn't any poetry around here. Sex is like like doing push ups to these folks.
The men are mostly stumpy shallows who never even heard a poem.
