Californian Poppy has been proposed as a remedy for depression and anxiety, but its effectiveness for these disorders remains unconfirmed. Other unsubstantiated uses include insomnia, aches, agitation, bedwetting, bladder and liver diseases, chronic mental and physical fatigue, nervous disorders, neuroses, mood swings, weather sensitivity, and migraine-type headaches.
This bright yellow poppy reaches a height of 1 to 2 feet. Native to California, it is now cultivated in central Europe and southern France. It first came into medicinal use at the beginning of the 20th century as a remedy for sleep problems and pain, but is rarely recommended today
