Caffeine For Bowel Movements?

I have pretty much had to deal with constipation my whole life even before opiates. I think much of it is that I don't drink enough water. I am just never thirsty. I can't explain it. My whole life I never get thirty no matter what I do.

So since I have started opiates my constipation has gotten a little worse. It had gotten to the point that I needed to take Milk of Magnesia very consistently.

Well something that has always worked for my constipation has been caffeine. Normally in the form of a half or whole caffeine tablet. Caffeine drinks just dont work the same.

Even before opiates if I took a tablet in the morning my stomach would get kind of upset yet loose at the same time and an easy to go bowel movement happens. It's like my stomach muscles are always real tense until I have some caffeine. I thought I could have a hernia but one doctor did the ball grab cough test and said I was ok.

It's hard to explain. The caffeine screws my stomach up yet relaxes my muscles down there also. Caffeine has always done this to me. It messes my stomach up and relaxes me at the same time. Everything I read says caffeine is bad for constipation yet it's the best thing for me.

Another weird question I have just for the guys. When I take the caffeine and my stomach muscles relax my scrotum tightens up a lot. This is when I know I need to go to the restroom. I can only go it seems when my scrotum is tightened. Almost like when I'm in cold water.

The only thing other then caffeine to do this to me is when I am real comfortable around a friend having a great conversation. Sometimes it happens when I am in deep thought or reading about something I am really interested in. Why is my stomach area so damn tense all the damn time? Even right now it feels like I am clinching my stomach muscles for no damn reason! If I try I can relax my stomach muscles but then they go right back to clinched once I stop thinking about it.

Only caffeine and when I am lost in enjoyable conversation or deep thought does my stomach feel normal.

I have had one other friend tell me a similar thing happens to him before a bowel movement and thought it was normal. I have mentioned this to a few others and they say it's not normal so I don't know. Is this a normal thing that can happen before a bowel movement?

caffeine orally for me(no xplode, pills, pure caffeine powder) has always caused bowel movements. it does have an effect in that aspect. i dont think this alone will totally fix it, you can combine it with that liquid magnesium and some natural tablets. all together i think you will have no problem to go to the bathroom.

go easy on the caffeine tablets. if youre taking 2 or more and getting these feelings, reduce it to 1. you dont need to rely soley on the caffeine to make you get right. throwing some exercise in the mix is also a good idea. just try to get healthier, and everything will be intact. FIBER is the best for this problem, the stuff you mix with orange juice. i suggest you get some of that.

Agreed.

Caffeine does not make me have a bowel movement. However, without fail, within an hour of drinking a cup of coffee I am riding porcelain.

Coffee contains other chemicals besides caffeine that aid in it's laxative qualities.

Stimulants in general usually cause bowel movements, coffee is just a bit better at it. :)
