Ugh sorry I know this has been covered a million times but I couldn't find an answer for my specific question.... so for as long as I've been IVing I've almost always ordered them online except last time I went to walmartand I told the woman what I wanted and she asked if I have a prescription on file and I just said they were fir my mom without giving a name and she didn't ask for a name she just got them (she seemed tho make it as easy as possible compared to some stories I've heard). But my question is this, if you tell them they are yours and u have a prescription on file OR if utell them they're for so and so with a specific name do they look it up then and there and give/deny u them based on that? In the past when I bought them at walmart I always said they were for my grandma and gave them my friends grandmas name so it would check out cuz she is diabetic but my friend said nit to do that anymore because she gets flex pen now.

It depends what state youre living in, assuming you're in the US. Also depends on the store. Never had any issue or been asked any questions at Walmart, but in the state I'm currently in you have to provide a driver's license because they keep your name in some sort of junkie database. Convenience at the price of anonymity. But some chains (fuckin Rite Aid) flat out refuse to sell them without a prescription for insulin.

Regardless of whether your friend's grandma is using flexpen she'd still be registered as a diabetic there. Shouldn't cause any real issues.

Well u never really have any anonymity because if y order them online the feds can see that too. But yea I was thinking about giving them her name still and if they say anything about the flex pen just say it broke and insurance went replace it right now... yea u have to show id here too and yes the only place that will sell to u is wall mart I tried to go to Kroger one time and told them I get my insulin from the mail order pharmacy whatever the name is and they said they couldn't without a prescription on file.... so dumb. When will the day come that they realize it's better to sell to a junkie cuz they're just gonna reuse anyway.... it's just like how they used to act with condoms and underage people well now they give them away cuz they realized it's better

The only reason I am now switching to walmart is because im paying about $18-20 per box ordering them online after shippping and im tired of it when i can get them a lot cheaper at walmart

To answer your question; yes. They can look up your information and verify that you are insulin dependent or whatever reason you are giving them to purchase the syringes. This was at Wal-Mart when it happened to me. I told them I needed them for my diabetic granddad and they went to look it up and he has never had a Rx filled there. They did sell me them though. It really just depends on where you go. I've always had good experiences going to RiteAid (if you live in the US). "I need a pack of blah blah blah". "Here you are, have a nice day"

=D

:p

You shouldn't have to give them any information other than what size you want. At least that is the case in my state in the US. If they ask for anything else I tell them to go fly a kite (re: fuck off).

I'm pretty sure we can't name websites for needles as I saw one poster who did.

Their are no Exchanges or anything like that in your area? My whole iv career ( here in Philly ) they had what we called the " Needle Truck " that gave away 10 fresh syringes, mixers, little cotton balls to draw through, clean water and saline, Ties, alcohol wipes etc. Then 10 more for every used syringe you brought them back but would give you that kit even if you did not bring any. They also did disease tests and gave away other things thing making other issues safer. A couple times i couldnt get to the truck so we did go to a Rite-Aid but they didn't ask for a name or anything. I would tell them to eat me. All they ever asked for was the size.

i dont see whats wrong with telling people where they can get rigs, u just cant tell people whre to get drugs

anyway i actually just got a pretty good deal i bought from adw diabetes clever choice they were $10, $14 after shipping, its worth it to me to pay the extra dollar to not have to walk up to the pharmacy people. but i have NEVER seen them that cheap online before

I recently tried to buy a 100 pack of 29 gauge from a grocery store pharmacy, (large chain grocery store), the employee asked me if I had a script, I said no and he said they can only sell with a script, but just out of curiosity, I had my ex-wife stop at the same pharmacy when she was shopping there and basically ask for the same thing, they did not ask her for a script...??? I guess it depends on which employee you get at any given time, or I just look too much like a junkie LOL

I also have a friend that is a diabetic, I asked him about buying a few needles from him awhile back, but found out he doesnt get needles in bulk, he has one 'rig' and gets bulk screw on tips, this would work for me, but he wouldnt contribute to my use and go to the store and buy another rig like this for me.

I think a lot of the time the policy depends on the individual store or the actual pharmacy technician. Some will ask questions and give dirty looks.

If you simply save your used needles then most exchanges will give you fresh ones for your used ones. Plus cookers, sterile water, cottons, ties, etc

u guys are lucky to live in/around a big city... people who have needle exchanges in their city dont realize how lucky they are, they REALLY need to get one in my city. where i live is a semi big city. they have a lot of things, dont have a subway but have buses. but there is quite a lack of some things that are needed

dude im not paying $25 for a box of 100, sorry. walmart is right under $13

gpzservices it's 15 for 100 and then you pay like 6 for shipping. You might be spending a few more bucks, but 100 will hopefully last you and will save you from a headache. I usually go to CVS (there are several that wont sell them without Rx, but i know a few will. It's store specific, so call and ask. I always say it's not for insulin, but for HcG...look it up). It's still like 19 bucks.

There's no logic in risking reusing needles over 10 dollars or less. Just buy online if it's such a headache locally.

In certain states, its a law that you need a script. So if you're in one of those states, you do not have the option of just going to the drug store. I pay $35 total for box of 100 and shipping. Thats the price you pay because you are healthy and dont need meds to keep you from dying. The people that have a script pay way more than that with their health. They pay a lot more doctor bills to get the script in the 1st place.
I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for, there is a time/place to be cheap and when to buck up, this would be a buck up time :). You're paying for convenience AND privacy, since you dont have to go to the store or the exchange and to circumvent the law. $15 bucks is well worth what you get when ordering them online, meaning 0 hassle.

yea walmart kinds of tricky... ive went there before seen one of my friends get turned away then the other one walk up 5 mins later and get em, it usually helps if you dont look like your all strung out... around here theres only one place that you can go and get em no questions asked but they do ask for an ID.... it really is fucked up that theres not a needle exchange in every city in every state, shootin dope or watever is already dangerous enough without having to worry about catching hep c
