Same here after Hydromorphones tho. Those 2 opies combined together nufn beats them. We just have to be truly grateful that most of us here are great metabolizers:)

Codeine administered orally is not as effective an analgesic as when it is injected subcutaneously. In one study performed on postoperative patients, 60mg of codeine administered by mouth produced relief in 40% of the patients, whereas a placebo was effective in 33%. On the other hand, administered subcutaneously, the drug was effective in 60% of the patients, whereas 10mg of morphine provided relief in 71%. Although effective, codeine is not quite as effective an analgesic as morphine, even when it's dosage is six times higher.

From Medical Pharmacology, 7th Edition by Andres Goth. Something interesting I thought I'd share, considering that 60mg is the normal dose of Panadeine Forte when prescribed.
 
that last sentence in the quote would be pretty loose lol.
would be quite nice if codeine was 'not quite' as good as morphine.
 
That's an interesting exert M_B. I have spoke with doctors before who think that codeine (generally) produces more trouble then its worth. It was a while ago so unfortunately I can't remember exactly his list of reasons. >_<
 
i would love to SC a couple hundred mg of codiene but i fear the massive red patches and itchiness would cause me to stab someone
 
IM morphine is quite lovely; i've had it numerous times from a previous GP while in excruciating pain at an appointment. it saved me from a bullshit hospital visit and gave instant relief. i don't know how comparable it would be to IM codeine but at a guess i think it would be more pleasurable than the codeine for recreation.

an antihistamine beforehand should cover you in regards to an IM shot of codeine.
