Also, Just a quick example of how having a good lawyer can make ALL the difference.
I have a LOT of felonies on my record and been to prison most of my life so I know what I'm talking about here.
This one time I was looking at like 8 felonies on ONE court date, and I couldn't afford a lawyer, my minimum sentence they was trying to give me was 60-72 months, due to my lengthy criminal history.
Anyways I got a court appt. attorney and checked out his history, turned out he used to be a judge for like 20 years. So this guy got 7 of my felonies dropped and plead me out for the last one. and I ended up doing about 11 months in prison on it, (that again is due to my past criminal history, if I'd had no record I'd probably have gotten probation)
I have no doubt in my mind that if I had gotten a shitty regular lawyer I would've eaten every one of those 8 felonies and pulled the whole 60 months.
Now keep in mind that I'm someone that is considered a Habitual Felon, meaning I can't get in ANY more trouble whatsoever or I get a minimum of 15-life for ANYTHING, I should have gotten that charge for the aforementioned courtdate, but that lawyer had that put away for the time being to.
so getting a good lawyer really can make ALL the difference, and it really is possible to get a good one from the court.
