Buprenorphine dosage for me? Is it worth it?

My kitty just got back from getting fixed at the vet. (She's currently coming down from the anesthesia by the way, probably ketamine or something, she looks pretty zoned out haha) The vet gave us a vial of liquid buprenorphine for her pain, she will only need to use it for a few days, and in very small doses (0.1ml two - three times a day as needed, when 1ml = 0.3mg) So like, I'm no opioid fiend, and I've never injected anything, nor plan to. I've orally taken hydrocodone every now and then for a couple years (got a tolerance now, need 10 vicodin to get me where 5 used to get me, and as we all know that is far too much acetaminophen for my poor liver lol) I've orally taken a few other opiates, oxycodone once or twice, morphine once, dextropropoxyphene once, a lot of tramadol (lameee). So in general I don't have much of an opiate tolerance, other than hydrocodone and tramadol. So my question is this, if there is even 0.3mg left over after my cat is all healed up, would taking one dose of 0.3mg buprenorphine through sublingual administration (under the tongue) give me a high at all, or would that be like nothing? I've never tried this specific opioid before, and I'm no fiend, so it's really more of a friendly curious question. In case I get bored and wanna get high one day, I was wondering if it'd be worth it? Or no? Experienced Bluelighters, give me your wisdom.
 
Ok first of all, lose the kitty part. We don't talk like that here, say I just got back, not SWIM or your lizard or your cat.

Second, 5 or 10 vicodin really means nothing. What mg were the vicodin ? And if you do take the vicodin again, I recommend a CWE, as you shouldn't be exceeding 3000-4000mgs of APAP per 24 hours, and even less if you use regularly.

I need more info on your tolerance, how much hydrocodone does it take to get you high ?

If you had little to no opiate tolerance, 0.5mg of buprenorphine should you get you high safely. If that isn't enough, add 0.5mg more and work up from there. Remember it can take a little while to kick in, and the come up is slow. You can always take more, never less. Some of the best advice there is.

How many mLs are in the vial you received or how much buprenorphine total ? Just curious.

not sure of the answer but to above poster if I am not mistaken vets do use buprenophine as described by the OP so could very well be legit and not a silly story :)
 
Ah, I overlooked that. I agree, she is really talking about her cat. I know buprenorphine is used to treat pain in felines (I actually just read it in the DF wiki like an hour ago lol). I actually just misread the OP. My mistake.

Disregard my first sentence of my other post then. The rest still stands.
 
Yes, it really was given to my kitty by my vet. Haha. Not making up any stories. I'm not taking it though, there isn't enough for me and my cat, and my cat actually needs it. :P And I don't take vicodin anymore, I can feel it anywhere between 50 - 100mgs of hydrocodone when I do. But I used to steal them from my dad and I stopped a while ago and came clean with him, because it was the wrong thing to do. Also, I'm a he, not a she. Thanks for the info anyway guys, I definitely like it here on bluelight I'm probably gonna start posting on these forums more. You guys made my first posting experience an easy one.
 
I'm glad you posted you're not gonna take your cats meds, OP. I was about to yell at you for that. It is pretty upsetting that people are willing to steal pain pills from animals that just had major surgery. I mean when my puppy got spayed and I called the check in and they said "yeah she got a big dose of hydromorphone, she's pretty well out of it" I was a bit jealous haha, but I never want to see an animal in pain unneccessarily.

Anyways, glad to hear your first BL experience was a good once, hope to see you around.
 
300 micrograms of bupenorphine wont be anywhere near what you need to zone out.....

It might be a nice light mood lift, but dont expect to be itchy and zoned out as fuckkkk.....

I love subutex, i take it every day of the week, and i dont excede 2mgs a dosage, that way i can occasionally take a half of an 8mg tablet and be absolutley zonked out and itchy as fuck.....

lol.....

FYI: my dogs got fixed all at once and i got some syringes filled with the liquid buprenorphine, they were like what you have....

I realized, that it would be impossible to dose that liquid, so i emptied out the syringes on a plate, and put them under a heatlamp to get rid of excess h2o in the solution.......

Put the bupe back in the syringes, and now that its concentrated, it will effect you much better than it would if you hadnt removed excess water, just empty the syringes into your nose, and enjoy friend!!!

I'm going to close this now since the question has been answered and the OP stated that his cat ended up needing the bupe so he isn't going to take it. But if anyone feels it should be reopened please PM me.

Also I wanted to note that doses for someone who uses Subutex every day are going to be a lot higher than a good starting dose for buprenorphine for someone with no or little opioid tolerance. People without tolerance should not take 4mg, and doses will vary depending on the route of administration.
