how long should you leave it between your last (4mg) dose of buprenorphine, and a nice smoke of heroin?

last dose of bupe was yeah, 4mg, and yesterday morning at school run o clock! would the gear 'work' now?

thanks for the advice.... took me ages to find the relevance in a 27 page thread, but went ahead anyway. took as while to kick in, but got a good nod now. cheers :-)

To the OP, stick to 2mg of bupe. It's just as effective, and you don't have to wait as long to do a full agonist if you choose to do so.

Yeah but some people need more to control their withdrawals. 2mg wasn't enough when I first switched, I needed 8mg until the withdrawals started going away but 2mg was good enough for maintenance to handle the withdrawals but then I relapsed and needed 4mg to control my cravings.

This is all true, and I should have been more specific. When initially starting this is true, but once you get the physical effects under control, it is pointless to use any maintenance dose above 2mg. There are people taking 16, 24 and even 32 mg doses as their regular for extended periods of time, and it makes no sense at all. I use bupe during the week, for PAWS, and then every other weekend or so enjoy some full agonists, I only need to wait about 36 hours honestly %)

Lucky for you, I have to wait at least 48 hours, but usually 72. But I'm on a higher dose than 2mg. I don't know if dose would matter or not.

I don't see the reason to take more than 8mg, anything higher is out of control. But I do see a reason for having to go that above 2mg. At 2mg my cravings came back and I relapsed so I had to go to 4mg, then again my cravings came back so I went onto 8mg and I no longer had any cravings. But then I went back down to 4mg because I didn't want to be on such a high dose. I haven't had any cravings so I'll stay on it for now. I'll probably go back down to 2mg sometime soon.

The dose plays a huge role in how long you have to wait. When I first started off, I was doing 4mg because it was inconvenient to cut the strips into small pieces, and I am prescribed so much. I always had to wait 48+ hours to feel the full effects when I was at that dose. I do 1mg twice a day of sub now, for a total of 2mg a day, and after 36 hours I can feel the full effects of any full agonist. It makes sense too, it builds up in your body, concentrations will be MUCH higher taking high doses all the time.
