Question: How long after taking your last 15 mg oxycodone, (90 -100mg oxycodone habit daily 2 + years), can I take bupe? Never tried it, but have some ,right from the doctor, 8mg/2mg strips. Being i never tried, should I cut a small piece (their sublingual, with 2mg naloxone), and wait and see how i feel, and cut another section if needed. Sorry ya'all, I've heard all about them, but never tried to halt wds. Need enough for about a week, 7 days. I will get my regular script. Do most people just stop the bupe, and restart their oxy? I understand they will take a few days for the bupe to exit our systems...
OR, WOULD MOST PEOPLE, JUST START KRATOM FOR THOSE 7 DAYS? SORRY, just want the best option to stave of wds, and go best route, since just a 7 day band aid....Thanks again. JS

In order to avoid precipitated w/d, you have to stop taking your oxy.. and allow yourself to start to feel w/d symptoms before you take your first dosage of naloxone. You don't want to take it too soon, or else you will feel it and it will hit you hard.

Rule of thumb that I usually go by is wait until you start to feel symptoms/start to feel sick.. and then wait another 6-12 hours, and then take it. Yes, you will be uncomfortable for a few hours.. but the longer you wait, the better the transition will be. When you're at the stage and ready to take your first dose, take a really small dose first.. 1-2mg, and see how you feel. If you're going to get sick at all, it will be at this point. If you don't feel sick, then you have waited the right amount of time and are on the right track.

How long does it take to feel the symptoms/sick ? The naloxone is built into the bupe. Is this normal to have it in your bupe? The sick you said after a small 1-2 mg of bupe, would be precipitated wds, if your gonna get them, is this what "sick" your referring to? Obviously, these are short term oxycodone i take, and obviously don't wish too wait to long, because I'm stopping 100mg of oxy:) Do you think 12-15 hour wait will work; then, what would i do on a 8mg sublingual strip? Cut ,eye ball 2mg, use scissors, then put strip back in package?

Yes, you're correct.. naloxone is built into suboxone. Suboxone is Buprenorphine + Naloxone. So 100% normal to have it with your bupe. I'm prescribed the 8mg Suboxone strips.. the one in that blue and white wrapper.

And yes, precipitated wd is what I was referring to when I said it's a possibility that you may get sick when you take 1-2mg. But there is a way to pretty much avoid the wds all together, if you follow the Bernese method. Type that into Google and you will find information about what this method is, and how it works to help you from getting off opiates onto Suboxone without getting sick. The methods basically works as such, you start taking small doses of Suboxone while you're still using opiates, and slowly increase your Suboxone dosage over a scheduled amount of days, until you're at your desired dosage, and then can stop taking the opiates without going thru wds. This is how doctors get their patients on Suboxone, while preventing them from going thru wds. There are a few websites that have information on how to perform the Bernese method successfully, search it up and let me know if you have any questions. This is how I got back on to suboxone anytime I was prescribed opiates while in the hospital.

Wow! I wished I'd known that! I waited almost 36 hours, was in pretty hard wds, with a splitting headache before I took my first dose of bupe. Everyone said " you gotta wait until your sick as a dog before taken bupe or precipitated wds are coming your way. Whata crock of shit! I suffered needlessly! Boy I wish more folks knew about this bernese method! You may have prevented many people from suffering like I just did! You deserve to be recognized! Thank you! I hope folks read this thread! JS
