I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I need a quick clarification because I don't have a fone charger at the moment, battery is almost dead, and I am starting to get sick. Ok so I've been on subutex for a few months but stopped and went on a 4 day H binge.. If I'm starting to kick will I be ok to take subs? Cuz I'm pretty sure I'm just kicking the subs? 4-5 days isn't long enough to get precips right? Just wanna make sure I'm ok to go ahead and take subs.. Thank you I appreciate any responses.

depends om each person. waiting 24 hours would be playing it safe. I dont thing length of time using heroin has any bearing on the likelihood of precipitated WDs.

Precipitated withdrawal only occurs when one is physically dependent on said opiate though. If u just did heroin for your first time ever and then used subs an hour later you wouldn't get precipitated withdrawal, but the heroin would be knocked off your receptors and you would be back to normal. So yes it does matter how long a person is on the opiate/opiod to begin with. Anyone have a sure answer? I'm 95% sure I'll be fine but would love a more definitive answer. Thanks

I dosed prolly like 10 hrs ago. When I was on h heavily for 2 years I had to wait over 24 hrs to take subs or I would get precips. I usually had to wait 36 to get any relief. But I'm only asking because I've only been on h for 4 days and I'm pretty sure after 4 days u don't have to wait that long cuz my receptors are still used to the subs, h hasn't been back on them long enough to saturate them..

If you wait until you are in moderate-severe withdrawal, whenever that is for you, you will be fine. For most people, 24 hours is enough time. Others need to wait longer.

The COWS scale can help you determine when you are sick enough to take the suboxone.

You're not reading or understanding what I'm really saying/asking. Sorry but the Cows scale is pretty useless and no offense I'm looking for someone with personal experience with this exact issue. On switching back to subs after only being on another opiate for 4 days. First of all the cows scale is bull to me because in the past when I was doing 2 grams a day I would be violently sick 16 hrs after dosing and would get precips and other times even 24 hrs after dosing and as sick as it gets I would still get precips. Don't mean to sound rude I'm just frustrated with other crap. Your replies are appreciated though. Thanks

4 days is plenty long to get hooked back on H again and therefore need to basically re-do your suboxone induction. I find even 2 full days of straight use will almost put me right back where I was prior to taking the Subs.

Also I wouldn't say the COWS scale is useless. Is it perfect? No, but its the best resource available to judge w/d. Is there a way someone can score you on it, rather than scoring yourself? It is designed for a health care worker to score other people, not for people to score themselves, so that is the only true way to get an accurate score. Its easy to be a little more forgiving to yourself when scoring it and judge things worse than they actually are, while someone else will be unbiased. You have to factor in the size of your habit when using the COWS scale, too. A 2 G a day IV heroin habit probably means you need to wait until you're above a 25 on the scale(plus if you are more prone to PWD, its best to wait to that point). Someone doing 100 mg of probably only needs to be slightly sick, just on the mild range.

No one is going to have a definite answer because its too variable from one person to the next. If you are really concerned of the PWD, I'd wait as long as possible and keep the dose very small to start.

I'd say it's different person to person, I've taken subs 6 hours after use without adverse effects, as well as used on top of it, maybe 2 hours after dose, nothing even remotely bad happened. Although I took methadone for a few days while kicking, ran out and took a sub maybe 24 hours later and that was by far the worst few days of WD I've experienced.

You need to wait until your eyes and your nose are getting runny, you're yawning a lot, your bowels feel loose... Basically until you're more than just wanting to feel better, you're actually physically sick and noticeably uncomfortable. At that point you can definitely dose the sub and get some relief. Before that point you might justbe getting antsy and put yourself into precipitated withdrawal because you're not in full blown wd yet. As others have said there is no exact time anyone can give you because it's different for everyone, but 24 hours is generally ok. Safest move is to waitas long as you can- the longer you wait, the worse you feel, the more the sub is going to make you feel beter
