I'm having issues with the Home Page. The rest of the site is fine, but the front page has a bunch of broken links on it. I'm not sure if it's my computer or if something went wrong in the HTML coding... all I know is that it definitely does not look the way it normally does. It's got little blue question mark boxes everywhere and etc. I took a screenshot so you know what I mean:

working fine here. try clearing out your browser history/cache etc.?

looks like a CSS problem actually, which might be fixed by the above - what browser are you using?

I'm on my phone right now and it looks okay from here (okay for the browser on my phone at least, which sucks hah) but there aren't any broken links, so it seems like it is indeed my computer. I clear my history almost obsessively, but not my cache - I'll try that when I get home. Its just this website and the front page though, which is what I find strange. I'm on a Mac OSX and I use Safari for my browser. I'll also check my computer for updates, could be another problem. Anyway, I'll do that stuff when I get home and hopefully it will be fixed. I'll keep ya posted.

EDIT: I cleared the cache AND updated my computer. No dice. Maybe it is my browser, but I just deleted Firefox a few days ago to clear up some space. I guess I'll just have to deal with it for now. :(

hold on a minute... that's the old skin. how odd.

presumably by 'broken links', you actually only mean 'broken images'?

does that work?

if not, try reinstalling Firefox. if your computer doesn't have enough room, delete a few gigabytes of that granny porn first, and try again.

Broken images and broken links, yeah. When I click on any of the headers, like Forum or whatever, I just get redirected back to that same page. Re-downloading Firefox as I type this.

How did you know about my granny porn collection felix :(

EDIT: Yep, it works on Firefox. That's really... strange. I wonder why Safari did that all of a sudden? Anyways, it's fixed now, thanks! :)

hooray for open source software!

i think we've all learned something important here... don't buy a Mac.

only joking! i'm very intrigued by this problem and will be for some time. so try some more stuff, write down in your special notebook what you changed and what the results were, and let us know what you discover at the end of every week, please.

Will do, although I'm not quite sure what else to do. Computer maintenance is so NOT my area of expertise! But I'm pretty curious myself indeed. I mean, a few days ago it was fine, and now that one area of the internet wasn't, out of nowhere.

So far the only ideas I have are:
- Send in a report to Apple
- TRY to upgrade Safari (if possible?)
- Google ways to deep clean a Mac, get rid of unnecessary files, etc.
- Scour my computer for potential viruses
- If none of the above work, call Apple Support.
- And if THAT doesn't work... just give up, lol.

Any other ideas that I missed?

is there any reason to stick with safari instead of FF?

i'm not a Mac owner, so that's a serious question. :)

For me personally, yes... yes there is. I'm used to the layout that Safari has, all of my important/frequented websites are stored this browser, and I'm not a huge fan of Firefox's bookmarking system. Safari's is way more efficient, imo... and I have A LOT of bookmarks. I don't know, it's just easier to use... it's like the Browser for Dummies. I am so NOT computer savvy. I think I already said that, but yeah.

Haha thanks felix. It's really not an issue of my bookmarks being on Safari and not Firefox, though. I just feel comfortable with Safari since it's the browser I'm used to. And Safari's bookmarking system is WAY better imo than Firefox... it just seems easier to find stuff... not to mention how much easier it is to clear history and what not.

I think if it was a problem EVERYWHERE, I'd switch to Firefox. But since it's only on the front page, and it's just this one website, I'm going to stick with my beloved Safari. Definitely gonna keep that guide bookmarked though... just in case. I mean, if Safari decided to just randomly do that to the front page of BL for no reason, who knows what else it has up it's sleeve...
