Television Breaking Bad

Keep going. We are only two weeks away, and those pictures were awesome. I always loved Saul's license plate, and that scene with Jesse in One Minute was genius.

Well I must say that the season 4 premiere was beyond intense!!! Boxcutters man...goddamn. Can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of the season, super stoked for the new episode tomorrow night!

Man, 9 days with no Bluelight was tough.

Well, at least we're all on the same page now ;)

I think the show is taking itself too seriously. I think it's pissed away its sense of humor.

I miss the humor of seasons 1 and 2; moments like:

[Walter and Jesse stare dumbfounded as bloody pieces of Emilio fall to the floor through a hole in the ceiling that was eaten away by hydrofluoric acid]
Walter: I'm sorry, what were you asking me? Oh, yes, that stupid plastic container I asked you to buy. You see, hydrofluoric acid won't eat through plastic. It will, however, dissolve metal, rock, glass, ceramic. So there's that.

Walter: Three entire bags of Funyons?
Jesse: Funyons are awesome.
Walter: God...
Jesse: More for me.
Walter: How about something with some protein, maybe? Something green, huh? How are you even alive?

Last episode was pretty hilarious at times. The dorky clothes in the diner (obvious Pulp Fiction homage), the way they routinely disposed of Victor's body, it was all done with some dark, Fargo-esque humour that had me laughing my ass off. It has gotten darker, but I don't think that means that it takes itself too seriously (whatever that means? It is, after all, the livelihood of the staff, so it is in their best interest to take their work seriously, unlike the guys who do Rescue Me and ruined something beautiful by pushing it for too long).

The point of the show, from the very beginning, was to get really, really dark, and display the serious repercussions someones actions can create. For fucksake, at the end of season 1 they bring in Tuco, who was one of the scariest characters I have ever seen on TV. And they had plenty of humor in season 3, it was just so dark that it was hard to laugh at (for example, the "talking with Ted" scene, I felt too bad to laugh at Walt but it was funny, seeing this cold-blooded murderer so powerless and pathetic looking when it comes to managing his family.

The line where Jesse says "It probably took him years to find Gale, hah, I bet he's sorry now" had me in tears it was so hilarious. We all expected Jesse to be torn up, and he's gone psychopathic killer on us all of a sudden.

I guess it goes back to episode 1 of season 3, when Jesse says he accepts who he is, the bad guy, and all of those meetings where his rehab counselor said that guilt and shit only gets in the way of true change. Jesse has taken that shit to heart. Funny how words can be so open to interpretation.

I REALLY do not get Hank's obsession with these fucking 'minerals'. Why is he being SUCH a dick to Marie? Like, I get that he's really torn up about the accident. That he's totally dependent on her but... rocks? I don't get the symbolism or is there any?

Outstanding episode tonight. I loved the house party, and all that it and Jesse's conversations with his friends signified. It is the end of an era for Jesse. He has become too badass for them, in fact, I think they are truly afraid of him. He can't stand to be alone, so he pushes some meth on them, and they throw a nice party, but at the end it leaves off like "uh, next week, yeah," which you know is code for never again. Badger and Skinny Pete are talking about brains being blown out, and Jesse is playing these games in real life now.

It was sad to see him hurting at the very end. I thought he might actually push through this, but he is still a very moral person who has to cope with an extremely amoral world. He will go deeper and deeper, he was reborn as a killer in the last episode, but obviously struggle and guilt will accompany him along the way. No more hanging out with friends, no more shooting the shit, the only thing this motherfucker is going to be shooting from here on out is drugs and people.

Also, I like seeing Mike rattled the way he is. I'm pretty sure he's on Walt's side, he just doesn't want to show it yet. That ass beating was his way of saying "you aren't ready for this shit yet. That's how quick Gus would shoot you in the head." I think Walt should have stayed content with where he was, and tried to set things straight, since it seems to me that Gus has his issues with Jesse settled out, and Jesse isn't really battling Gus. I'm pretty sure Jesse will be the one to kill Gus, however. Box Cutter kind of foreshadowed it, and Walt's intelligence makes his moves too predictable, while Jesse's simplicity will probably have the problem solved.

Can't wait for next week.

Oh, and lol, I haven't actually checked but I'm pretty sure I could fill out that Bingo card in this episode. Marie wearing purple and Jesse saying bitch were the two things that really made me lol.

And I have no fucking idea what the minerals symbolize yet. I guess we'll know by the end of the season.

Great start to the fourth season. To the person talking about how there is no sense of humor - I would argue two things... 1. This is an intense drama, who cares about humor? 2. Those two "funny parts" that you posted were not even funny.

I'll keep watching since i enjoyed the earlier seasons, but season 3 and even the first few episodes of season 4 just felt way to slow, the scene with Gus suiting up and un-suiting dragged out for like 10 minutes? I understand it's meant to be dramatic and atmospheric.. but it just felt unnecessary and more progression on the plot could of been filled with that time. It just feels like nothings happening?

I'll keep with it though :)

Wow, Max I would've thought you were into this show
I hadn't gave it a chance and decided maybe I should

I watched the first 3 seasons a few days before last sunday's premier and was not let down when I was told I would find some quality televisionz
Srsly, give it a chance, your face while viewing will most likely resemble the dudes'

I think the show is punishing its fans. Right now they could spend half an episode filming Skylar on a toilet and everyone would call it high art.

That said, I can't quit this show. I loved the gun-buying scene!

damn I must've missed something. I thought I set my DVR to record all the new ones, but I totally missed Victor getting killed and Gus putting his suit on.

Was the sunday night episode not the first of season four? The first thing I saw was the gun buying scene, seeing Jesse in the lab totally took me by surprise, as did the new Gus henchman.
Sunday's show was great though...

Walt is out of his fucking mind, going right up to mike at the bar and telling him he wants to kill gus. WTF is he thinking my reaction is that mike would probably relay that info to gus after leaving the bar. That didn't make sense to me really. I like how jesse is evolving into a real badass after shooting the replacement cook, no more fun and games but he's trying to mask it with the house parties and stuff.

There's no way jesse can skim off product to sell with badger and skinny pete now because mike is making them weigh everything twice, so how are they going to do any more side business? Anyone notice the meth they did at jesse's house was white, not the blue stuff he makes so where does he get it from.
