^ Yeah, that's something that's been largely ignored... I don't think anyone has a fucking clue where that's going!




However, like my prediction.. we saw Walt go full on Heisenberg. I did expect him to make that transition a lot sooner, but it's obvious his days are numbered anyway... no more meds from Mr. Creepy Vanisher Guy. I'm thinking the ricin is for the Black Matter, and the M60 is going to be used in some kind of redemption for Jesse. A lot of people want to see those two duke it out but considering how the show has gone up to this point, I just don't see it happening.

What makes you think he's full on Heisenberg? Heisenberg has disintegrated. Remember the first episode? "Chemistry is the study of change. There's growth, then decay, then transformation!" We watched the decay of Walter White and the formation of Heisenberg. Saw him to full growth, but then we witnessed the decay. The time in New Hampshire has been his transformation. Walter White is gone. Heisenberg is gone. There's bits of each personality left, but they're only fragments. They make a new person. He even has a new name, Mr. Lambert!

This isn't just my theory. Here's an interview with one of the writers discussing it after the last episode, Granite State, premiered.

This Walter White-Heisenberg situation feels a lot like Jekyll and Hyde. Was that last scene him officially flipping that switch and breaking bad? Is Walt gone?
That’s such an interesting question. I can tell you the way I saw it: The way I see it is that Heisenberg is gone. He keeps trying to kind of evoke the ghost of Heisenberg, the thrill of feeling powerful, and it’s not there. It’s gone. It died when Hank died. It’s just not there. It died when he saw baby Holly. And then in the end, what is happening in my mind, and obviously we’re leaving it up to the audience to some extent, in my mind, what’s happening is he’s becoming something new. And it’s not Walter White; It’s not Heisenberg; it’s something new. And that’s what I think Dave Porter picked up on when he had that great variation on the Breaking Bad theme at the end. Dave and I both agree he’s sort of, in this episode, he’s becoming what he’s going to become, and we’ll find out what that is in the next episode.

I think you're right Carl, right up until the point where he sits down and watches the news. Obviously him putting on the hat had quite a bit of symbolism in the act, but his cancer (among other things) has progressed to the point where he can't manipulate his master plan the way he used to

The phone call was the first time Flynn got to talk to his dad since he had left. He was confused the day he left and since then his whole life has been destroyed. He had to blow up at his dad and get his anger out.

Think about from his point of view. His dad is no longer there. Everyone is hounding him and his family for information regarding his father. Flynn probably doesn't even feel like he knows his father anymore. He always saw him as a kind, innocent, nice guy. He's finding out that his father was a murderer, a drug manufacturer, and the head of a criminal organization.

Flynn is now without a dad, stuck with his mom (who is in a lot of trouble herself), a baby sister, and a devastated aunt. His uncle, whom he had always looked up to and had looked at as a figure of strength, is dead and his father had something to do with it. Think about all he's lost, and how quickly it all happened. His family has split apart. Flynn would have had to go to Hank's funeral. He can't escape any of this. It's not like he can just go and hide in his room or go out for a drive. He no longer lives in the house that he grew up in and had lived all his life up to this point. He no longer has the sweet, badass car his dad had bought him. It's all gone.

If you had lost family members, had lost your car, lost your home, lost your anonymity, and lost your privacy you'd be super pissed too. It's got to be a really confusing time for him. He's a kid in high school. He'd been sort of babied his whole life, by both parents, and often wouldn't hear the truth about things. Now he's suddenly had to grow up, he's learning the awful truth about everything, and he only has a fractured mother to help guide him at this point. He's probably never been so lost, so lonely, and so scared in his entire life. I wouldn't be surprised if he started using drugs to help self-medicate. This is a lot for a teenage kid to handle. He's got all the normal teenage stuff to worry about still, plus this craziness.


I've read a lot of posts on BL. There's a lot of bitching about stuff that isn't anything near what Flynn had to go through. If he hadn't flipped out on Walt it wouldn't have been realistic. I bet if they talked again he wouldn't flip out as much because he needed to get that anger out.

I just want to say, I agree with a lot of what you say here. Flynn's latest babble-fest was just "Flynn being Flynn" for the most part. He has a very underdeveloped, "simple" sense of right and wrong throughout the series that I personally find annoying. Actually, it's his outbursts where he refuses to listen and just yells ,"No! No! You lied!" and shit like that....It's like nails on a chalk board!

Maybe I was just hoping that in 60+ episodes his character would have matured and evolved a little bit. That outburst in the principal's office was just the last straw. He could have hated his Dad quietly and refused to speak to him, but to completely feed him to the wolves like that without letting him make his point....

I'm still pissed at Flynn four days later and he doesn't even exist...that's fucking quality programming!

I'm not of the mind that only 3 strike felons hate Flynn and think Jesse throwing money out the window screwed everything up. Jesse could have moved to Costa Rica and adopted ten Brock look-alikes, and been sipping on Frescos in a mansion for the rest of his life.

I completely agree. Especially with his simplistic view and his instant refusal to listen being annoying as hell. It just seemed like he had earned that right to be pissed off at that point.

It seems like he doesn't have the maturity level to handle everything that had happened. At the end of season 4, he visits Walt at his condo and Walt is all messed up from taking pain killers after getting in a fight (with Jesse I think?). Flynn is standing outside his dad's condo, he sees his dad's car there, but Walt isn't answering the door. So Flynn calls and leaves a message and he's like, "Where are you? Your car is here, so you must be home. I have no other option than to call the police." Fortunately Walt answers the phone before the police get this lame message that you would think would be coming from a 5 year old. Even then he sees Walt's face is bruised and cut up and he wants to call Skyler. Why? I don't know. He didn't know what to do I guess. Anything happens and his first reaction is to call an authority figure. Now shit has totally hit the fan and he doesn't have his normal authority figures to turn to for help. His dad and his uncle are gone and most likely his mom and his aunt are too overwhelmed themselves to really give any help or guidance. So he's probably more lost than he ever has been in his life.

Edit: Rewatching now. LOL @ Walt's "fugue state". I wonder if they ever think back on that and realize he had faked it all.

Walt Jr has cerebral palsy doesn't he? I only bring it up because his behaviour is identical to my ex's sister (who also had CP). The inability to deal with certain situations and immediately seeking an authority figure to help him. Almost like he has the mentality of a 5 year old, but only in certain (stressful) situations.

I knew Skyler knew, I meant more if Hank, Marie, or Jr. ever thought back on it now that they know the truth.

If Hank realized it before he got killed I think he would have even laughed, despite how mad he was at Walt, because that was a ridiculous story he came up with.
 
Season 2 is so good. Best of the series.

The show was still funny in season 2. It got very serious in S3, and has stayed that way.

Plus, Saul's best scenes are in S2. And Jesse hadn't turned emo.

In the scene where they show the gun in the trunk of the car, the car had New Hampshire license plates on it.

Also, I think the ricin is going to be for his expartners of GrayMatter. Not only did they piss him off in the interview it had been mentioned way back in the bginning that they had pretty much screwed him, that all of that should have been his (the success of the company). Like he was the one who made it and then they pushed him out.
