Ok so I went out to a local massive this past wknd and of course I was rolling that night with friends.
I took about 3 mollys between 11pm & 6am, but when we got back to the hotel, everyone decided to keep going and party. We all ended up drinking our faces off and popping more molly than expected. By the time it was evening, I think I popped about 4 more.

I ended up passing out a few hours later and woke up only to everyone still popping. So I decided to join in and take somemore. By then end of Sunday night/Monday morning, I took 4 more mollys. So altogether the entire weekend, I took about 11 caps. I'm usually not the type to go all out like that, but I did. End of the weekend, I was feeling like shit and needed to get home to sleep.

Anyways, when I got home, I was feeling the usual way I feel after rolling hard. But until 2 days after, I noticed myself getting dizzy or feeling brain zaps. Idk what u would call them. Every time I try and lay down it feels like a jolt runs through my head right before I fall asleep. & sometimes when I'm walking around it feels like I'm getting dizzy. It could just be me overreacting, but I wanna know what it is.
I'm thinking it's from the amount of MDMA I took over the weekend or something. It's kind of freaking me out. Should I be worried or is this normal when taking some MDMA??

Has this happened to any1 else from MDMA?? What is it, how long will it last or will it go away???

Since nobody has responded yet, I will but briefly.
Take some time to look through my posts when you really want answers.

For now I will tell you that MDMA damages higher cortical axons in the serotonin network.
Over time, the brain is re-wired...but depending on the person this can take a few weeks, or a year.
Lets hope you are in the first group.

My experience tells me that those experiencing immediate 'zaps' are in the lucky group.
I didn't get real 'head-pressure' or 'zaps' until at least a week had passed.
They didn't get really bad until the second month - and they are only now starting to disappear completely - at month 11.

Serotonin is the chemical used to contract the intestines.
The smooth muscle that surrounds the intestines is impressive and it release serotonin into the GI to cause a contraction.
It is then reabsorbed and used again. 90% of your serotonin and serotonin receptors are in the intestines!

In the brain, the other 10% makes up the most complex neurotransmitter system of all.
It has a direct effects upon blood flow to various regions of the brain, too.
An increase in serotonin causes an increase in blood volume.

As the serotonin axons are re-organizing themselves, the capillaries in your brain are being redistributed.
It should be no surprise that this can be a VERY unpleasant experience.
Search for 'brain zaps' on BL and you will find MANY results.

Most lines of research suggest that even heavy users of MDMA recover with about 12 months.
While lifetime use and cocommitant use of cannabis are important factors - so is 'session' dosing.
The number one rule I spread around BL is NO RE-DOSING.

In animal models, where they are attempting to study TOXICITY, they ALWAYS use re-dosing.
It is the most reliable way to induce neurotoxicity and the subsequent 're-wiring' of the brain.

The good news is that YES, you will be ok.
Most likely you will make it through this in the next few weeks.
If you are new to rolling, and smoking weed - that is another good sign for recovery.
This would also mean you are probably young, too.

Take it REALLY easy on the brain...sleep as much as you can.
Eat VERY healthy - no shitty foods for a while. Remember, the intestines are the real reason for serotonin.
And exercise...exercise is the fastest way to recover.
Not only does it cause blood vessels to increase in number, but it causes resprouting of serotonin axons through the release of BDNF!
That means STEM CELLS buddy.

So start jogging and doing push ups.
You will be fine.

You seem to be experiencing Myoclonus, which is abnormal muscle jerks, normally occurring while falling asleep. This does happen to those recovering from MDMA use, but here is no timeline as how long it will take for it to go away. Time and patience is your only current option.

Such brain zaps are a common side effect of doing too much MDMA. Give it a week or so and you will feel better. Try and hit the gym and eat healthy. Definitely take a long break (3-6 months) form doing MDMA.

@ D n A

Generally, we don't tell people to UTFSE. So just keep that in mind.

a wounded soldier of mdma,
A massive break, heal...
Eat healthily, exercise

Do not take any more mdma for a long long time.

well...its either brain zaps or.. when your going to sleep your muscles relax..and your brain thinks your falling so it jolts you back up. (so probs tiredness)

Also...have you tested your gear? i swear to god most people on this forum that take "molly" are just taking BK-MDMA and complaining about this and that -.-

Hey man, my first post here. I used to get the exact same thing after MDMA, not sure I can post links to other forums or not so will copy and paste my experince I posted elsewhere:

'Not so much these days but a while back swim used to go out perhaps twice a month and take MDMA or pills. Due to a.) fairly high tolerance and b.) an enjoyment of taking it as far as it could go a normal night would be 10+ pills or as much as about 17 or 18.

At the time swim could still handle the kenny comedown and would sleep fine. But after a while a pattern started whereby about A WEEK AFTER the night on the beans an odd thing happened. As drifting to sleep all was calm and then BANG out of nowhere it felt like a violent vibration of the brain. Swims brain would literally feel like it was buzzing in swims head, I'm not talking a mild buzz I mean WHAM - woah what was that?!!! This isn't the eye vibration I mean my BRAIN. It would last about 2 seconds but was intense almost like swims was poked with a cattle although not really painful, just the shock. Also it was accompanied by an audible buzz almost like someone turned the volume knob on some PA speakers up to full for 2 seconds.

It's odd as it was ALWAYS at least a week after the MD / Pills but became so much a pattern that it was beyond doubt that it was linked.'

The conclusion was 'brain zaps' and was pointed towards this site: http://www.pointofreturn.com/brain_zaps.html

ive experienced this a few times before. Brain zaps. my last episode of brain zaps lasted for weeks, thought they were never gonna fuck off

do not touch drugs for awhile. sleep, eat healthily, take lots of omega 3, piracetam. give it time, it will go

be more careful in future. moderation =D

all the best

I had "brain zaps" for years, but the zaps occurred in every drug I used, I wasn't sure which drug was causing it, or if I had some sort of abnormal serotonin shits from overdoing drugs. When I smoked pot, if I ever got a lil too high, I'd start getting the zaps hella and everyone could see me just sit there randomly mid sentence and cringe. Then when on shrooms, I was just basking in the euphoria and the same shit happened, same thing with smoking cigarettes, sometimes I'd take a drag and get a zap, I could never figure out which drug was causing all of this, I figured it was all drugs and that I was fucked now and might as well just do drugs. Welllll after having these shocks for a few years, something happened which caused me to never want to do ecstasy/MDMA ever again, and now after 4 months of not rolling I haven't had a single brain zap, and I smoke pot regularly, smoke cigarettes, take mushrooms, etc.

kinda weird.

I have experienced this a couple of nights ago as well. I think like what everyone else has said it happens when you re-dose and take a stupid amount.

I'm usually pretty sensible and time my peak and take no more then about 200 - 220mg over a couple of hours and never suffer anything like this.
Last weekend I consumed a stupid amount of some medium dose MDMA pills over the afternoon/night/morning, which would probably explain the random brain zap I had a night or two after.

I'm definitely going to wait at least 3 weeks before getting back on it and also going to cut out weed and reduce the amount of alcohol I drink for a while (would take a month or two off if it wasn't peak clubbing/party season over in Aus at the moment.)

Another contributing factor could have been 30 hours of no sleep I had on the night 8(

I've had them a few times and once, after a massive weekend in Ibiza I had them so strong they made me drop things if I was holding them! Scary and very unpleasant. The only think I found helped, other than all the usual healthy stuff, was to get some 5-HTP tablets. Could be placebo effect but they really seems to lower the frequency and strength of the zaps. I've no idea if they are good idea for your brain chemistry. All I can say is they seem to help with the zaps.

Nobody really knows exactly how or why they occur but they have been researched a bit due to the fact that they are common on withdrawal of SSRIs - so clearly serotonin is implicated. Read this: http://www.lumrix.net/health/Brain_zaps.html

Don't worry they'll get better and eventually stop. Don't take that much MDMA again or you'll very likely regret it. People have gone into seizures on less than that.
