I recently learned of the possibly-psychoactive Nonda mushrooms in Marlene Dobkin de Rios's Hallucinogens; Cross-Cultural Perspectives. I've become very interested in these mushrooms - particularly Boletus manicus. Ott and Raestch offer tantalizing tidbits about the fungi in Pharmacotheon and the Encyclopedia, but data is sparse.
Heim reported that a handful of dried powder of this mushroom caused "colorful visions", suggesting that its psychoactive. Hofmann, however, was unable to find much in performing chemical analysis, except for tiny amounts of unidentified indole alkaloids.
I'm looking for any additional information on the topic that can't be found by Google. I'm especially interested in finding this obscure leaflet:
Heim, R. and R. G. Wasson 1965. "The 'mushroom madness' of the Kuma" Botanical Museum Leaflets Harvard University 21(1): 1-36.
Does anyone have a copy?
Also, if anyone has personal experience with the Nonda mushroom I'd be ecstatic to hear of it.
