Bluelight weekly photography contest Round 39: Temples of Worship (see inside)

np, L.

I took my pic on Thursday and was about to submit it shortly after when the site went down again. I'm going to hold off for a day or two and see if I get better weather for a retake, otherwise will submit the first take.

Ninja... that is a rare shot!

Not only is it thoroughly impractical to go to that place these days, but to my knowledge you actually needed an Arabic last name to enter, or was I wrong? I was lucky enough to visit several years ago when Jerusalem was still alive, and I have an Arabic last name, so....

Truly fascinating.. the rock enshrined inside is very weird IIRC.

I reckon anyone who doesnt give at least a tiny bit of info about there structure doesnt even get looked at in the voting........well thats how my mind will be doing it.

Some of these are just brilliant but thjey make me want to know about them.

Ocean???

and while watching those old picture i found the one i summited for this round (the one before, not this one...)
but yeah 10 year ago we didn't had a problem getting there

:)

You've been there too?? OMG, what are the chances!?

(for those who don't know, this monastery is really in the middle (or rather, between ;)) nowhere in the Judaean Desert. You need to travel on foot a LONG way before you reach it. Very few people have ever heard of it. The monks there are very friendly and serve some good orange juice!)

There are some similarities between ours, pr0ficient, architecturally speaking.

I was really hoping to take a night shot and a specific one at that - blanketed with fog. Unfortunately, the night lighting has been off for some reason and we haven't had any fog either. Oh well... At least I got better weather this week. Last week was nothing but cloud and made for some really poor colours. I did get a shot of someone kneeling in prayer about two thirds up the stairs, but they came out too small in the final print to make any significant impact on the theme.

updated info for mr mazdan: this is a random church in Bitche, France. Near the north-east border of Germany. Where we stayed for a week last year. :)
