sorry for any inconvenience if this is posted in the wrong section.

Hello,

What do you think of the idea of having a bluelight chatroom?.
What's the point of this?:
- People can get together in the chat, talk , discuss , ask and in general have lots of fun.

Just, what do you think about this?, would you be interested?.

Thank You.

Thank You.

Not gonna happen. It's difficult to enforce the user agreement now. It would be impossible in a chat room. I could see meet-ups and sourcing running wild, people dick sizing about dosages, and not a lot of HR happening. The socials couldn't even stay open for these reasons, let alone a chat room.

The reason why a blog is more appropriate than a chartroom...

Chartrooms with no strict category of discussion will indeed be clogged very fast.

Secondly, direct conversation will be diluted... No one will be able to decipher what information on the screen is referring to them.

This. Ha. Definitely this.

The reason for the chatroom would be for the social side.

Personal ex:
When I owned a forum we had an built in chatroom with the forum software. We never really once had any problems. The chatroom brought the most HQ members together, it really made the forum so much more complete and better than any other forums. We all got to know each other, lots of us picked up our own friends and many become best friends for life. It was a social side of things and was really fun. The other thing is there was no need for any heavy moderation or anything because:
a: everyone was already well behaved.
b: it was just a chatroom.
c: etc...

overall it was great and everyone had such a fun time, it brought everyone back to the forum so much more and everyone built strong relationships.

And some days we would all have a party or some sort, some get on cam, talk non stop. I remember staying up for over a day and with only 12 members on the chat but 12 members = like best friends ever. It was really fun and great. It made the forum so much more stronger and better than any other forum.

(note: it was not a drug forum)

We have had them. Shit storm occurred, members were raped on screen. People also died. It was decided it was impossible to enforce guidelines or maintain standards required so was deemed unsuitable for this site.

it could also be a feature unlocked when you become a greenlighter for example.
the other thing is it made everyone to be so much more HQ and nice on the forum, we all helped each other out so much more.

the other thing is: having a vent(teamspeak/etc) or some sort of chat (not shoutbox) will engage and enrich the forum & community letting people create relation ships in real life. I was on some other forum and it was only teamspeak with the forum but it was because of the teamspeak that brought us together as its the main core of social. we met up in real life, they came over to us and we went over to them. it was so much fun (each of us were in another country), the other thing was that the forum subject had nothing to do with the meetups, etc. it was just the social side of it. we are as of today great friends and contact each other every now and again.

now for you. it's really good and would grant the possibility for people's lives to change as really all you have in life is friends and family. if you ask me, lots of forums should start adding some sort of official commutation (voice chat/tinychat forum room, etc) and it would:
- Enrich the forum and community.
- Make members go to that forum so much more, donate more , interact more.
- Give people a chance to have in real life social interactions. (not regarding the forum but becoming friends, its much better, easier, fun, etc to do it from a forum that you both are interested in than in some random chatroom on the net.)

Once a forum gets an official chat room or a voice chat... it becomes ultra clique-ish and makes the actual forum lamer in the long run. The loneliest people on the forum turn into chronic chatters and get to know each other so well that when they do post on the forum they're an isolated sub-community just making inside jokes.

Anyone can make an unofficial IRC BL chat room tho...

I am sorry to say but you have flipped the idea around. Its the main people on the forum that would use the chat.

I agree it would be the chronic posters that would use the chat the most. But while it may be fun for them, it essentially creates a second community and waters down the actual forum if some of the best posters are spending all their time chatting instead for the instant gratification. Any insight they share just disappears, while a random post someone made 5 years ago could literally save someone's life harm reduction-wise.

I used to be a mod on a psychology forum, and we introduced text/voice chat, and it created an instant schism between the forumers and the chatters. Plus it ups the server costs.

So that's why I think if a group on a forum wants to chat together conveniently, they can just make an IRC channel, just not something the actual forum should promote if it wants to keep growing as a forum.

This is the exact reason why we don't have a chat on BL. It was a total shitstorm of epic proportions. It is impossible to maintain even the most basic guidelines on chat rooms and yeah shit like that happens 8( . Something like that you do not want associated with BL at all. Just bad news all around.

There are at least 2 other threads on this topic, and all of them end with us saying that it's not going to happen. As mentioned by One Thousand Words, we tried this and it was a failure. This isn't an idea that we are entertaining at the moment, so I'm closing this. It doesn't matter what your intentions may be for the chatroom, because it will still turn into a problem like the old one.
