True people, it could have some negative implications...

I just used the survey to voice my opinion on alcohol & nicotine being legal:)

IMHO, either all drugs are all illegal without prescription or legal...that's about all I had to contribute!

This current worldly situation just seems to run over & over in my head...

Is this the same survey that was posted in the Mod forum awhile back... Er, I dont realy wanna have to do it again, if its the same one.... :)

Another objection I have is that they include 5-htp with other herbal suppliments such as Ephedrine and Creatine (sp?), 5-htp does completely different things to the other suppliments mentioned, my fear is that people will say they use 5-htp (which as we know is mostly a good thing) and the survey will say they use herbal suppliments to enchance the effects of drugs... :(

I have a feeling they are going to conclude websites like this cause people to start using drugs or start using more drugs than they otherwise would have :\

Word. It sounds bad. Especialy as its coming from NIDA.

Do you have to be a yank to do this?

It seems to me like the survey was pretty fair. If they collect and analyze the data in good faith then whatever the results are is only the truth, negative or positive.

If this survey shows that we are contributing to increased use of dangerous drugs in people who otherwise wouldn't use them, then I think we must figure out how to prevent or minimize this from happening. Our stated goal is harm minimization, this survey can be a very interesting tool to help us achieve this goal.

Done and done.

I didn't like the fact that "Nitrous" and "White-Out" were mentioned in the same category.

It's already Bluelighted ;)

fuk /. - we are the L33t!

Good survey, and looking at the time people like SG and dakeva have spent working on it, i'm sure it's kosher.

My only objection: at the end I answered yes to most of the 'are you depressed?' questions, because I am. but I was depressed before I started using drugs, I would hope that this isn't presented as some 'E makes you depressed' finding, when that doesn't follow from the way they asked the questions.

Anyway, I'm glad they're listening to us.

could the survey damage bluelight?

Well i can't speak for everyone here but our government almost encourages open conversation regarding drugs.
Overdoses cost the economy two ways, the first being the loss of production (from the druggie), the second is the cost to the publc health system. If your unfortunate to kick the bucket then all that society invested in you is lost.. (i'm an economics student)
Anyway the point is that the governemtn isn't ignorant to the fact that information saves lives and more importantly (to them) money..

GBH (Gamma hydroxybutyrate)
isnt it GHB? Sure its only a small typo but if its been tested, probably edited aswell id hope. Ah well...

I reckon this survey will hopefully be put to a good use, i mean i did a few surveys in one of my psychology classes about immigration and what i thought about people of certain ethnic backgrounds, and its not like they are going to 'hunt' me down for being a racist, or voicing honest (being the key word) opinion. Otherwise i think that this is fairly good, i reckon they have put down the questions that are most likely to get answers to the questions they want to ask. Just a comment on the grouping of some, thye usually group such items so as to cause less confusion and because other 'statistics' may demonstrate that people who use one substance are highly likely to use another. But couldbe also cos their lazy, ah well... done and done!

Just finished it, man it was long. I thought it was pretty fair, hopefully it will lead to some law changes :)

Not one to attempt if your brain is a bit mushy ;)

I'm finding that out the hard way right now =D

edit: wow that took a lot longer than I expected. Some of those questions do seem to be a bit one-sided and might be able to be easily twisted. But what else is new, the only player in the drug media market is always that of the Government (in this country anyhow), with no other stances (harm reduction, etc).

It would be great if someone were allowed to post the results of the survey on here, I didn't want to list my e-mail address. Not that it isn't easy to obtain.

I think GBH is slang for GHB in some places. (GBH = 'grievous bodily harm' - a legal term in the UK for a type of assault - not sure if you use the term in the States).

done. i can't wait to find out the results/ what they decide to do with them. i'm glad that there were some 'essay' questions... i was beginning to feel limited by the boxes. i'm glad someone's listening to us and will hopefully do something positive with the information that we have given to them.

I felt some of the questions where very poorly phased (such as is something "somewhat" or "very" or "not at all" harmful). And some were kinda leading like (have you in the past six months felt depressed) or (have these web sites lead to you trying previously untried drugs - how can we know if we wouldnt have found out about them anyway via another channel?).

At least the NIDA will know which websites we trust, but i too have the feeling they are begging a question.

i liked that survey. the questions were fair and didn't seem like they were trying to steer the information in any certain direction. hopefully some good will come out of this. posting it on BL was a good idea.
