Hello Everyone!
Stumbling across this site gave me an extremely good feeling. Something like this is long overdue. Bluelight has undoubtedly saved lives and I'm sure it will continue to do so. Complete honesty is the only effective way to deal with any and all aspects of drug use and drug culture.
I'm male, will be 62 this January and began my relationship with drugs in 1962 with a three week hospital stay (morphine) and soon after that got into marijuana and speed (pills and meth, oral and injected). I did the the whole "psychidelic" scene in the 60's & 70's and like most people of that era moved on the "bigger and better" things. Went through my first heroin detox at the Aquarian Effort in Sacramento in 1972 (or there abouts). Chipped "H" through the 70's but mostly did coke and pot. The 80's were about coke and more coke and then some more coke. All of this was accompanied with alcohol. I now only use prescription opiates (prescribed and otherwise) for chronic pain and, of course, for the high. No great super revelations or anything like that. Honestly , I just got tired of spending the money. After 50 years just let the pot go and have always moderated the alcohol (two beers a day for the last 10/12 years). I've been doing the prescription opiates for about 12 years.
Nothing is more boring than some old fart reminiscing about the "good old days" and bragging about his capacity for idiocy who thinks he's got it wired just because of his age. I will not do that. I'll try to share my experiences when appropriate or when asked. Nothing in my back ground makes me special or wiser than anyone else. The only thing that strikes me as a little odd maybe is the fact that I seem to remember most of it and came out fairly unscathed. Hep 'C' but I'm one of the lucky ones. After first biopsy they told me I had the liver of a 14 year old. After the second biopsy they actually came back twenty minutes later and asked me if I had had a liver transplant! Unbelievable. Don't ask me. I have no clue how that came about.
Anyway, this is my first post so please give me any suggetions or tips you think might help. When I was filling out my profile and stating my favorite quote, like a pompus ass, I quoted something from T.S. Elliots "The Hollow Men". In reflection it doesn't seem appropriate. I think the term "Just happy to be here" is better. That goes for Bluelight as well as
still being among the living.
Again, oustanding site and I'm sure it generates hope for those who are in need.
