Blowmonkeys backyard bushes '06

I'd love to post some new pictures now, but photobucket seems to be fucked up at the moment, it takes ages to load and continually gives errors, so I can't upload my pics (hope I haven't exceeded anything). Oh well, I'll edit this post with the pictures later on. Hopefully.

The plants are growing vigorously now, I have to keep on moving the pots because the leaves keep shading one another. They're beginning to stink as well, nice thick stems, already getting actual side-branches, some are on the 5th or 6th node already, 7 and 9 fingered leaves, they look absolutely gorgeous.

Ha! I've just found a weed plant growing in my backyard! I was spitting through my big-ass container chock full of the used soil from previous grows, killing off pesky little plants that started growing in my precious soil, while suddenly I find myself staring at this little bugger. Damn good surprise.

That makes forrrr.. Ehm, 13 plants now. Yay!

Blowmonkey is there any danger in the NL of people ripping of your plants in your yard?

looking forward to see more pics.

Anywhere in the world man. I'm sure noone will bother to steal mine though, I live in a small town, so if they're gone I know who to search for.

Nope, only the neighbours can see it, they're okay with it.

Photobucket finally worked for me, so here's the pics from yesterday. A crappy pic all-together and one outside with a PP, an OB from pheno #1 and the little trifoliate OB from pheno#2.:

I looked today and the biggest of the 2 OB#1 pheno's is probably a male, I saw something starting on the last node. I also need to re-pot one of these days to 7l, the fastest growing PP has drooping leaves, not because of lack of or too much water, but probably because it's rootbound. For the rest they're going just fine, the stems look like they're going to pop they're so thick, wish I could make a clear picture of it.

nice, very nice

i like the little 3 leaved one

still its not trifoliate, that refers to divisions within the individual leaves, i'm sure of this

Everyone I know of on every cannabis forum I know of refers to these kind of plants as trifoliates. What do you mean by division within the individual leaves? How many fingers they count? Most if not all cannabis plants develop 3 fingered leaves somewhere in their lifetime.

Looks nice. I have a few seeds sprouting in my back yard, I found them in some weed I bought - the weed was very good so hopefully these plants will turn out well. I didn't sprout them with HPS lighting or anything; all natural planting is the only thing that fits my budget right now. If they turn out to have crappy bud, I can just make a ton of hash I guess.

Nice plants, you should make a in depth grow guide with your grow diary, that would be a nice help to some noob growers.

what indoor soil you used? what ferts have you/will you use?

is it not too cold in NL? whens the last frost? (i guess this is why you started indoors) isnt pp a sativa? all your plants look indica to me. also, i thought the growing season was a little too short for a sativa. learn me about growing in NL

What a bunch of questions, I'll try to answer. My indoor soil exists out of your average potting soil mixed with pre-mixed soil, called all-mix I bought in the growshop, which contains pretty much everything a cannabis plant needs, with an EC of 2.8 or something, there's also some coco peat in there. I use a minimal amount of ferts, but during flowering I'll give them a few shots of terra flores and some pk 13/14.

It's not too cold overhere. The time to plant is around winter solstice, 10-15 may. By then you'll be sure there won't be any frost, although last year was still pretty cold for mays' standards. But yes, that's part of the reason why I start indoors, the other is that the natural ligth cycle is still a bit short. Purple power is a hybrid, but leans towards the sativa side. It flowers very fast, 8-9 weeks, but grows like a sativa. That's what you need, something which flowers early and is mould resistent, so our choice here is very limited. You can try to flower an indoor strain outside by using force flower, but that's time consuming and not really my thing, I'm your typical, lazy stoner. For the rest it's just like anywhere else, you just let em grow.

the more pure an indica you can get, generally the better off you are growing in northern climates due to the rapidly changing lightcycle during outdoor flower. that's certainly a good bit of information to keep in mind.

Yeah, when the leaves have 3 leaflets, the leaf shape is considered to be "trifoliolate", then once they've developed further and have more leaflets, the leaf shape is considered to be "palmate".

"Trifoliolate" defintely refers to the leaf itself, it can be looked up at any online dictionary.

If OG was still up, I could find out the proper term for this mutation, I definitely came across it in one of the mutant picture posts.

EDIT: What do you know, I did find it by going through some cached search results. The term for 3 or more leaves at each node is "Whorled phyllotaxy".

This thread makes me very interested in growing now. I've done a decent amount of reading on growing cannabis, and I know I still have a lot to learn. However, since it's considered spring now, and the weather is pretty nice now (live in Pennsylvania) I may be able to start growing ASAP. I've been collecting throughout my bags, and have a decent seed collection. I'm going to check out the forcast for the next 12 days or so, and if there's no frost, I may give it a shot. Can't hurt anything. And as much as I know searching would be to my best bet, before I do so, does anyone know the best place for answering basic questions? My main concern is determining male/female plants. Thanks.

Well waddayaknow. ;) I always assumed "wholred phyllotaxy" referred to a leave shape, similar to a ducksfoot for example. Anyways, all the plants are going great. I've re-potted 4 of them already, going to re-pot another 4 today. I can say with certainty that from the 2 OB's pheno #1, there is at least one male and the other looks like it's going to be one. Real pity, but the genetics of that moster from last year will go on in somekind of hybrid I'm going to make, dunno what yet though.. Something else to note, I guess I've been giving them a couple doses of ferts instead of regular water. I had 2 coke bottles already filled with ferts, but accidently mixed them up with the water bottles and I seem to have slightly over-fertilized by giving those 2 bottles, some of the plants have extremely small yellow spots, first signs of over-ferting, but it's nothing serious, nothing that can't be helped.

see, i said it was a whorl (thanks EJ for the complete term)

turns out cannabis seedlings are more hardy than i thought

mine live inside at night and outside during the day, but i forgot to bring them in the other night, there was a hard frost that wiped out the basil seedlings (my sister bought me a herb growing kit for my brithday, big polysyrene planter. growing in it are corriander, basil and cannabis :) after all i diddn't need to grow chives, i already have them)
and the cannabis and corrander were untouched, unusual
