Blotter Storage and Degradation

Hey everybody, so I have 1.5 hits of Mayan blotters that I haven't touched in four months, they were VERY potent, with each blotter containing about 250 micrograms, and probably no less than 200 (no exaggeration, either on my part or the dealer's). In fact, to test this, I took a half-blotter at 10 am back in July and I was tripping hard for seven hours straight, with a durable comedown extending well into the evening, if I took the entire blotter it would've been Bicycle Day insanity for me. Anyway, my problem is that with school I haven't used them since July 26, and now I plan on tripping hard this winter break. So, since then, it's been sitting in a ziplock bag, within a black satchel bag, at the bottom of my dresser for a few months now, so I'm guessing there's not a lot of heat and light exposure, aside from taking them out of the bag every few weeks to make sure they were still there.

My question is: would there be some deterioration in quality or would they be totally degraded by now? I know there are no definite answers, or some scientific formula to figure out the degradation from "x" conditions in my room multiplied by "y" amount of time, but any input would be appreciated, because I'm a week away from finals and it would be a disappointment if it was bunk by then. Not to mention, considering the potency and quality, it would suck for approximately 375 micrograms of clean acid to go to waste.

There may be some deterioration in quality as weather is... well weather, unpredictable. The best place to put blotters is in aluminium foil, inside a black box, in your fridge.

I live with my mom and brother, so I would be paranoid about placing it in the fridge/freezer knowing they could find it.

If your tabs were very potent before, and it's been less than a year, they're probably still very potent. If they weren't refrigerated then chances are they've broken down a little, but there should still be enough acid there for a hell of a trip.

That's probably the most plausible outcome after a few months of sitting there. If the worst-case scenario happens (the blotter acid is totally degraded), then I'll just have to buy more. Anyway, I'll test it out again, but it'll have to wait until after finals week, so the suspense is bothering me.

IDK about the whole fridge thing unless your sealing it in a dry container. Once you pull it out, since its cold, water condesnses on the foil/paper.

Diethylamide (and most sensitve psychs) worst enemys are- heat, light, oxygen, and moisture.

Therefore, your best bet, is wrapped in foil, with an o2 dessicant or nitrogen wine preserver purge of said storage container, a bit of dehydraded epsom salts, kept in the fridge/freezer in an airtight container. Let it warm up and wipe off any condesnation before opening, and repeat the process everytime you remove a blotter.

If you can't keep them in a fridge for reasons of others getting into it, bury it a few feet deep in the ground somewhere. It will stay 50-60f constant there, and while its not the best as far as temp wise, better than ambient room temp which is usually 10-20F higher or more.

i agree. keep it simple, there is no need to refrigerate ime. overkill.

agree.

gideons bible is your friend. double wrap/bag and place in bible. what could be safer than the bible 8( =D

if your going to the length of burying, i dare say it would be even more important than refrigerating to keep air and WATER tight.

Definitely. My rules for doing so are, rubber gasket sealed vials purged with noble/inert gases (wine preserver), double vac sealed, with o2 desiccants, and silica h2o desiccants at each level, in an otterbox. But really that's only necessary for long term storage, and i don't really do that with anything but the gram amounts of 4 sub's I've collected over the last few years, and won't be done with for years to come.

Its also nice for a bit of legal protection in case your place ever gets searched, depending on where you hide it of course. I would recommend not stashing it anywhere on your property. But that's only practical for long term, where you wont be needing to access it for months/years to come. ;).

Unfortunately, despite your reaching out there really is no decent conclusive answer except having it tested. You could check out a quarter and try what you get from that, storing well at least from that moment on...

Other than that the mentioned factors to avoid (the natural elements, really), classical storage thread - on which central discussion is here: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=363129

I won't close this just yet on account of you being a greenlighter :)
