I am able to control breakouts with washing my face 2 times a day and the use of an astringent followed by a moisturizer, but these blackheads on my nose are pretty nasty.. very deep and they aren't improving with the products (noxzema and stridex pads) i'm currently using..

any advice or recommendations on how to successfully treat and get rid of blackheads would be appreciated, thanks.

my diet is alright.. not any worse than most kids in college.. no fast food, I eat at least 2-3 servings of fruit per day.. drink a decent amount of water, and I take a multivitamin every day.

My grilfriend helped me with my nose. It had a buch of them. She used these strips that go over your nose. Pulled most the shit out. Trying use a face wash with some kind of scurbing bubble or blackhead removeing thing, thats also worked to keep them away.

If you dig deep enough you can usually get the suckers out for good. But if you only do a half-arsed job of it, the root of it will remain, and it will come back, and you will have suffered and looked hideously disfigured for no reason.

^^^ How do you "dig deep enough"? I use those facial sticky strips that you put on wet and wait till dry. Is that what you mean or is there a better way?

Heat works from what I have read. It causes the bacteria to self destruct. They have this fancy, new, little device that sends out isolated bursts of 117 degree heat right onto a pimple. Supposed to clear the buggers up in 24 hours.

Squeezing out the puss isn't going to make them go away any faster. You can damage the skin around the infection. Not that walking around with white/black heads is pleasant or anything... but popping them isn't the best thing in the world to do.

yea these things are too deep to squeeze off.. and i've tried the strips but again they are too deep to get most of them, although strips worked well for some.. think i'm gonna make an appointment with dermatologist and get Differin cream or something.

I don't use products such as those mentioned. I often get black heads around my forehead, and sometimes on my nose. Basically I have a long hot shower, and make sure I have somewhat long finger nails, and just dig in with my nails on either side and push hard. Muhc like the treatment of a pimple. I dig in hard enough that a clear red impression is left by my finger nails either side of the fucker, but the doesn't necessarily scratch through- break the skin, but it sometimes does. The pus and all the shit inside comes out slowly in a thin spurt, like a mini turd. Then it should bleed a little, at which point I let it bleed red blood, until the blood becomes almost like water. I keep squeezing, or putting pressure around the wound to see if more blood wants to flow, a few minutes of this and the liquid turns distinctly clear, with only a tinge of red. Then apply a tiny drop of dettol, aftershave or some strong antiseptic, and a few day later the scab will peel off.

Probably is a better way, but it works for me as I am too lazy and/or embarrassed to seek help from the cosmetic counter at the pharmacy.

LOL are you serious? If i put a drop of that on my face, it's 'bleached' for several hours.

I think it has to do with genetics more than anything. I'd never encourage 'picking' at blackheads repeatedly, nobody in their right mind would.. unless you like the possibility of scars which looks a lot worse. Go to a dermatologist if it bothers you that much or just make sure your face is kept clean in the meantime in your problem areas.

It takes a few weeks for your skin to adjust to using it.
During this time your skin will peel and be very dry and uncomfortable.
But once your skin adjusts it totally eliminates acne and for me, it eliminated blackheads as well.
Its important to use 2.5 % benzoyl peroxide too, because the 10% over the counter crap is really hard on your face.

^ That's true, which is why beauticians will apply an astringent after extractions (to make the pore contract).

I extract the ones on the tips of my nose at home now. After exercise, when my pores are open, I just squeeze them (gently!) as noted above. Then I apply a little alcohol-free toner to the area, and let my skin rest. The next day, I apply a purifying (white clay) mask. I alternate between a mild cleanser and a benzoyl peroxide one, depending on how my skin is that day (dry or oily).

Gonna stop now 'cos I feel like Patrick Bateman describing this ;)

^^^^^^^^

Same here, except I used 10%. My skin started peeling within a few days so I stopped using it for 2 days, but after that no problems.

OCM (oil cleansing method) is slowly getting rid of my blackheads...the deepest and ugliest were the first to go, too.

My pores are too small to use an extractor/tool of any sort, or even my fingernails.
