Well, it's not as if there is a formal definition for 'tar' heroin. I think the only constant is that it contains a mixture of alkaloids and isn't considered very potent. I might add that opium contains papaverine and noscapine - both of which are biologically active. It may be the case that some people look for that mixture? That they prefer the activity of the mixture.
For a couple of decades I would purchase a gram of H once every couple of years. I would enjoy it and then ask myself if it was worth £50. I decided it wasn't. This was decent H. A simple melting-point test revealed it to be circa 70% pure. But I just see it as temporary escapism. When it wears off, your problems are still there and now you have £50 less.
If you NEED a potent analgesic and you cannot obtain it through your doctor, I'm certain it's an absolute boon, but for escapism, no.
BTW do dry-amps of medical diamorphine ever pop up? I've also sampled that. It snorts beautifully but it's actually sort of TOO clean. Too subtle. Certainly it's value is LESS than an equipotent amount of street H which seemed counter-intuative to me until I tried it.
But for pain, my oxycodone is enough.
