Black sabbath celebrate ’13′ with new york city town hall event – recap + exclusive p

After a 35-year wait, Black Sabbath have finally released a new full-length album featuring original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler. The album, ’13,’ is charting at No. 1 in 50 countries according to comedian Jim Norton, who hosted Sabbath’s ’13′ album kickoff celebration last night (June 11). The live event included the premiere of a short Black Sabbath documentary, music video showings, fan questions for Osbourne, Butler, Iommi and Sabbath studio drummer Brad Wilk of Rage Against the Machine + much more.

The Black Sabbath ’13′ live event was held at the Angel Orensanz Foundation, a former synagogue in New York City. The venue choice could not have been cooler, as semi-dilapidated religious imagery lined the walls and high ceilings of the once holy refuge. While Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler appeared live at the event in person, Tony Iommi and Brad Wilk both connected into the celebration via Google+.

Prior to entering the venue, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne walked out to mingle with the many fans in line to get in. At one point, Ozzy signed a fan’s back when she told him she would tattoo his signature on her skin.

As for the event itself, Jim Norton himself conducted an interview with Sabbath about ’13′ before fielding fan questions asked by lucky attendees in the front row who won the opportunity through a Sirius/XM raffle. In addition, a couple of Sabbath fans attempted to ask their own questions through Google+, but technical difficulties caused only fan faces to be shown sans audio while the live NYC crowd laughed hysterically through the uncomfortable moments. Eventually, the two superfans got their questions in to Sabbath.

Ozzy Osbourne was in an especially jovial mood through out the Q&A, as you’ll see in our exclusive photos from the Black Sabbath ’13′ Town Hall event below. When asked why now was the time to reunite for a new album, Ozzy quipped that if not now, the new disc would have been ‘Black Sabbath: From the Grave,’ eliciting uproarious laughter from the crowd. Check out video of the full celebration below, as well:

because ozzy sings like he's stroked out. i mean, he is pretty much stroked out. i'll still check it out, but the live show would probably be awful. i'm assuming they can cover up his stroke voice in the studio.

well here it is so you dnt have to pay for it or bother even looking now think ive the link to the dulux vesion in the lounge music post a few pages back into it .

it makes me feel sort of sorry for tony and geezer because in truth the success of the album is of the back of the osbournes tv show and not true fans buying the album boosting their hopes/egos , just for the true metal fans / sabbath fans going after its been out for a week or two about how disappointing it is , if i have any hopes it is that its the fact of all the contract disputes with bill ward tony cancer and the pressure of the album as to why but that in say 5 years or so the second or 3rd album could give us one last true genre defining album . that or sack ozzy get bill back and find a new singer
