Hey mods, I have no idea where this question should go, so please feel free to plop it where it needs plopping. Thanks.
Ok Bluelighters, I'm looking for some opinions here. Bear with me on this one, it may be a bit long winded.
Alright, Sunday the 30th was the last day I plugged some of my morphine sulfate, 75 mg to be exact. I take 100 mg Trazadone, 1200 mg of Gabapentin, 550 mg Naprosyn, and 20 mg of Simvastatin a night. So, on Monday night I took my normal doses of all this other shit, minus the MS Contin. I also took it all on a fairly empty stomach, (only had some mashed potatoes, and some frozen green veggies for dinner). Well, within 15 minutes of taking the Trazadone and the Gabapentin, around 10 pm, I had what I would call, a less than optimal reaction. It felt like I had gotten punched in the face. I had a bloody/coppery taste in my nose/sinuses, my sense of smell went way off kilter...almost like a spicy/peppery burn in my nose...kinda like a wet dirt smell. My heart rate went through the roof. Normal heart rate at rest for me is about 62 bpm. I was at 220 bpm at rest. I got all hot and sweaty but cold at the same time. My vision went somewhat dark and fuzzy and I got a nasty headache, mostly near my left temple, and a shitty feeling of vertigo, which is happening while I am typing this. I had this same sensation for the last few nights, but to a lessening degree each night. It actually felt a little like the migraines I used to get all the time years ago...but these "auras" are quite a bit different...these ones are not at all pleasant.
Anyway, I thought it may have had something to do with the MS Contin but I haven't been taking crazy doses of it. The most I've taken during this last month has been 75mg at one time. On 2 occasions I did take about 150 mg in one day. But since the wonderful side effect of my plumbing not functioning as planned,(gotta love opiates), I kept the frequency of dosing to a minimum...at most 3 times in a week, (I know, still too frequent).
So, any ideas as to what this is? Does this sound like a withdrawal? Blood sugar tanking?(My latest blood work was spot on, except for my cholesterol...still too high). Getting sick?(I feel fine, mostly. I don't feel ill). I told my doc at the pain center today and he said that it sounded odd, but the nurse said it was possible that the Gabapentin could have done this. I'm ok during the day, but once it starts to get into the pm hours, things start getting weird again,(maybe I'm turning into a vampire...hmm, that would be an interesting turn of events).
Anyway, so I turn to you, fellow BL'er...any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks for the input.
