Hey, all... I've been diagnosed Bipolar and so for the last month I've been on Carbatrol twice a day, klonopin 3 times a day, and Zyprexa before bedtime. I originally came in because of panic attacks and when I described symptoms similar to what I'd read of add and added depression, I was diagnosed bipolar and given the meds listed above... now for all you great 'Scripters out there... where should I go from here?

The only two really good psychiatric drugs are the benzos and the psychostimulants. You already have some pretty good benzos (maybe you can up that but not for a good deal of time).
Unfortunatly the psychostimulants are specifically not prescribed to ppl with bipolar (they can induce mania).
Your best hope might be to get some barbituates...but I don't think they usually prescribed them with benzos and I would prefer the benzos (I really don't know so don't trust me on this).
I am positive you can probably get stuff like seraquel....probably works great for meth comedowns...but it doesn't really do anything but put you to sleep.

they would never prescribe barbiturates with benzos; they're definitely counterindicated (extremely dangerous interaction there!). i'm not sure why you'd prefer benzos to barbiturates; it's my understanding that barbs were more fun, but they've been largely superseded by benzos since they're less dangerous and "less abusable".
lithium has no recreational value and I think it should be avoided anyway; it's not 1946. there are no antidepressants that have recreational value, really.
honestly, you've probably done about as well as you're going to, particularly with that klonopin. you could almost definitely get that switched for another benzo, if you look into it. klonopin has a bit of an issue with anterograde amnesia (forgetting things that happen after you take a dose, like a blackout on alcohol).
if by 'psychostimulants' you mean the sympathomimetics such as Ritalin and the amphetamines, then yes, those definitely have recreational value, which is precisely why they're hard to get. you won't get them for bipolar disorder, since they'll make the situation worse (by inducing mania, as quale said) and not better in any real way.

I'm prescribed Seroquel as a sleeping medication.
100mgs of Seroquel works just as well as 10mgs of Ambien for inducing sleep, only I think Seroquel has less side effects.

You already got Klonopin tid - thats good, better then I would have originally thoght .. so what do I recomend? Well, as Roches said, you might be able to cycle through various benzos until you find something you like, but other then that, you won't be getting anything better.. sorry, but in this day we can treat depression with non-fun meds..
