Anyone experiment with binaural beats? Ive been having some bad sleep issues and wondering if binaural beats might be a route I should explore. And if you have been successful with them, do you have a good source you would like to share?

source for research or a program? you could use a synthesizer or make a track yourself with software, but there are easy programs that do this well.

as far as effectiveness, for minor sleep issues, i'd think it would help, if you have insomnia though, probably not going to touch it. I mostly used binaural beats for meditation or while tripping on dissociatives to have OBEs or try to have mystical experiences. Outside of that haven't found a whole lot of use. Worth a shot though as it won't cost you any money.

I have a couple of the Life Flow tracks and I think they help me to wind down at night. You need to have some good headphones. Holosync is another one that is popular.

I recently tried "Brainwave Symphony" but it really didn't work for me. I think it's because I'm not a big fan of classical music, which is what they use to mix the binaural beats.

The Life Flow tracks are pretty good...They all sound like "background sounds." Wind with flutes an bells. Rainstorms and lightning. Stuff like that.

That actually sounds really nice. Is it expensive to get them or are there gratuitous downloads available? :P

Yeah, I'd consider them to be kind of expensive considering they are basically just mp3 files. I had an employment situation that was really stressing me out so I was looking for something that would help me relax and take my mind off everything that was going on. It actually worked for me so it was well worth the money.

Indeed they are very expensive, i regret buying the holosync myself, even tho i did enjoy it for a few weeks, too expensive! And they want to keep selling the next better version to you! Keep sending mails from USA to Eastern-Europe! :D There is always a discount available. Haha.

There should be some torrents available that include similar tunes tho. :)

Hi there. I use differently-designed beats for studying, meditation and sleep. There's now lots of choices out there on what to buy. I would have to say that I think for sleep purposes they are so-so. When you listen to them and you're sleepy already, they seem to work fine to aid in falling asleep. But if I'm wound up and anxious over something, honestly the music just grates on my nerves! Also, if you listen to the same material of binaural beats night after night, the brain seems to adapt pretty quickly to hearing it and the beats just don't work as well after awhile. That darn brain with it's amazing ability to develop tolerance strikes again!

I've just worked overall to improve my sleep hygiene drastically in the last few months. Listening to binaural beats after switching off the lights works some nights, but it's no replacement for good get-to-sleep practices. (Not that you're doing anything wrong in regards to sleep hygiene...I'm just saying). I think they're a good aid overall, worth the small investment of a few CDs or downloads. If you have severe anxiety or insomnia issues, though, I don't know how well they'd work over the long haul.

Most of the claims that binaural beats, audio waves or any type of audio artifact helps induce sleep or can transition someone into different brain wave by itself are unverified. I've tried to use them via AtmosphereDelux software (free trial, great program even in the completely free version) and have got no success. Im pretty sure you know how to prepare yourself for good sleeping habits so thats the best option.

I listened to marconi union - weightless for a couple days nearly a year ago. It helped a lil, but sometimes I wake up in the middle of the might with the music still playing and it pisses me off! Too bothering. If you're interested, I can post a link if it's allowed.
