Beyond Ego
Standing before a mirror facing a reflection
Though I thought it would be my own
It was merely a cast to which in I have grown
A farce of perception
Made solely of deception
Created for all eyes to see
Lies a heart hidden for a select few to see
Soulless and sometimes shallow
Unforgiving to his own shadow
Accepting all of the blame
For which he should feel no shame
God knows he has taken more than his fair share of pain
Yet still lies a heart that has much to gain
Standing before a mirror for reasons unknown
Wondering why he must face this reflection still alone

Hmmm I like things like this. I noticed some perception trickery. Please tell me I'm not looking to deep in "what's not there to find". In the first few lines this piece is first person. As it progresses, third person kicks in. Is this due to disassociation. I've noticed the reflection is a shallow farce... has the speaker somehow ascended and now is on the outside looking in. Or even better yet has the reflection taken over the narration and is now talking of it's host. This is really tricky. If indeed I'm in left field as a writer you have succeeded. My wheels are turning and pondering the after effect of your work. More More More. Not perversion but a request.
