In the morning, I usually have a coffee drink. It's about 300 calories (made from 'light' iced coffee and sugar-free chocolate powder) but other drinks are like 500 calories. I mainly drink it for the much-needed caffeine boost. I do not like hot drinks so ordinary coffee isn't a solution. In an effort to cut calories where I can, I was thinking about switching over to a single can of diet pepsi which has no calories, sugar or carbs. I know it's not the healthiest alternative but it's better than the coffee drink that I currently consume. That would eliminate about 1000 calories and 126 carbohydrates a week from my diet. Is that a good choice?

Have you tried kombucha OP? As far as I remember it has less calories than coffee

Are you really attached to caffeine? Because there are herbal alternatives that will give you a kick without depleting your body as caffeine does.

No, I don't even like caffeine. I just need a boost. I am not familiar with any herbal pills though my initial thought is that they are probably not worth the health risk. I only need something 4x a week until the summertime. I am not looking for something permanent.

Caffeine pills are fine. Why don't you just have a regular coffee? Regular coffee, sweetener instead of sugar, and then basically the only calories would be the creamer. If you want a different taste, use flavoured coffee, flavoured coffee creamer, or something like sugar-free Torani syrup. There is also caffeinated tea. I'm not sure what this "coffee drink" is and why it contains so many calories. That is ridiculous. And I don't get what "just needing a boost" means. What is this boost that you need if it isn't caffeine?

Caffeine pills are cheaper than coffee, and have no calories. Diet pepsi doesn't have as much caffeine as coffee AFAIK so it won't really give you the same 'boost'
Caffeine pills are the best way to get caffeine without calories.

I don't like hot drinks. What I drink is like an ice blended mocca. I leave my house at 6:30AM to get to the gym, go to job 1, then school or job 2 and sometimes job 3. I need something to get me through the day so I am alert and focused. I thought about caffeine pills but heard they are dangerous and not to be used on a regular basis. I need something to use 4x a week.

Caffeine pills are no more dangerous than drinking coffee, it's all just caffeine. (in fact, many of those caffeine pills are made of caffeine that's extracted from coffee to make decaf)

Just don't overdo it, that's why those pills can be dangerous--it's easy to take too much. Just stick to taking 1, even half of one, at a time and you'll be fine.

So true, caffeine pills have caffeine, so do caffeine drinks. Neither technically should be used daily. But you already drink the caffeinated drink daily, caffeine pills are no different.

As for hot drinks, try iced tea. You can cool down the coffee and make iced coffee instead. And use Torani syrup if you want the flavouring. I have iced coffee for like... less than 50 calories. I make French Vanilla coffee, put it in the fridge. Then I add sweetener, creamer, and Torani syrup to make it an iced coffee. Google "how to make homemade iced coffee" for more ideas :)

Just buy rhodiola rosea capsules. Make sure the back says they have at least 3% rosavarins in them. Try taking 250mg in the morning to start. If you need more then up it to 500mg. The effect is cumulative and you'll notice it more after a few days. If your sleep suffers then cut back. Stop after 6 weeks max to give your nervous system a break.
