between boring and bored
I was reading something about GnR touring and it made me think of all the great music of the 80's and I kept thinking and kept thinking...Anyway I happen to like a bunch of 80's music actually just most of the music I like are from bands that were 1 hit or 2 hit wonders(Crowded House,OMD, Howard Jones). Not to many complete great albums in a generation where Thriller ruled the air waves(though Eddie Van Halen is awesome on Beat It) or Born in The USA(sorry Boss love your shit in the 70's but the 80's you became a sellout)! But two that stand out to me is ACDC Back in Black and GnRs Appetite for Destruction. From beginning to end these albums just smack you in the face. I love ACDC and this album was what I would crank when I hit the bars and Appetite I would crank when I was railing some coke and ready to party.
If I had to pick between the two it'd probably be appetite just for the fact I was like 13 when it came out and they just barely edged ACDC as being a part of my generation. ACDC was on the downside putting out that shitty Money Talks album.

Hey namnoc, I added a poll to this topic. I voted for Back in Black. Appetite For Destruction is a massively overrated album to me; I tried so hard to like it but the tracks just didn't grab me. I prefer the 'Lies' ep.

PM me if you have any other interesting idea's that we can create polls for, they are usually a bit of fun.

tough...

but I voted for Back in Black. superior guitar playing

Superior riffs/vocals/production/aesthetic too. Though admitedly its been many moons since I actively listened to it. GnR have aged poorly IMO whereas AC/DC are almost timeless...

Willow go right now listen to the opening of have a drink on me,great riff. I love them both!
That little dude from ACDC is a mad slasher on the ol geetar but speaking of Slash gotta love the sound of a Les Paul coming through the Marshall. Also the rawness is the beauty of appetite. The record company wanted to get GnR out there ASAP because they thought the key members were going to OD before they were recorded!

That was a tough call, choosing which one. Appetite was just a gnarly sounding album. To a junior high school kid. Appetite was great.

Hey speed king did you know on rocket queen that chick sounding like shes having sex (in the middle of the song)was really screwing the band and they recorded it? Fucking classic!

I saw the Guns n Roses, Behind the Music :) . Cool as fuck. Wonder where the sample of the woman came from during the intro of "More Human than Human" by White Zombie? (sorry, off topic by a mile). I smell a new thread...

Bon Scott>Brian Johnson
Yes indeed!

As for the question, i'd probably say Back in Black, but i'm not a huge fan of either record.

Bon Scott wins for sure. For having to replace the best lead singer, Brian Johnson does one heck of a job. To bad Bon had to die, but Brian replaced very nicely.
