Here it is. I will actually give it a try as soon as I am back from vacation.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned gluten avoidance.

Going gluten free will get a lot of junk out of your body and increases digestive efficiency.

This is a sample of a plank. You can get some type of foam matt for this:

Make sure your form is proper. That picture, for example, has imperfect form.

I've seen professional athletes (Goran Dragic) have awful plank form. It doesn't matter how long you're holding it if your technique sucks.

You get proper results through proper technique. That is infinitely more important than any "moral" or egoistic victories.

Planks are one of my personal favorites :)

Back on topic:

Was fasting mentioned? That's one of the best ways! Do it safely, though.

I cut down the food yesterday so pretty much fasting.

Just eat less

Unless eating insane numbers of calories was the reason for your weight gain, then I don't recommend caloric restriction. Short term fasting is usually ok but as a long-term strategy it will make your body more deficient and prone to fluid retention.

Caloric deficit is the only way to reduce weight efficiently without causing a catabolic overload.
