Hey, first time posting, so I am going to have to do 7-10 days in jail in 2 weeks or so and I am on 70mg methadone currently, they don’t even give suboxone in the jail, I’m trying to figure out the best way to lower my dose or taper off so I’m the least miserable in there I can be or if I should keep my dose the same so it will last me longer while I’m in, and save a little from my take homes until then so I have 30mgs or so to take right when I get out.

Thanks guys

1. what is current your dose?

Sorry this doesn't directly answer your question. In the interest of harm reduction I'm going to suggest tapering isn't going to help. Not in my experience, not in two weeks.

Assuming United States - has your attorney or an advocate from I don't know ,.. the clinic, pre-detention services, social services, a harm reduction organization - anyone you can get to listen - know of this situation? You need the jail staff to know what's coming, unless you are fairly certain it will only make it worse.

You could anonymously call and ask what they do in this situation.

Around here once your pod mates knew of your situation and if you had any resources you'd be offered an illicit strong synthetic while in jail and that can have many outcomes a few of which you don't want.

My county doses short-term inmates already on MAT for those reason and to take the burden off the "medical staff".

Unless your clinic is run by newbie management, I think your clinic is best able to help you navigate this, for sure you're not the first.

Two weeks to prep isn't much. If you get zero help my advice having been on methadone (200 mg/day ten years) would be to hold or maybe increase my dose in the week before going in. I do not think a taper will help you at all.

Other people's thoughts, please...?

Unless mayyybe you're below 40-mg now and only on a few months, if you go in CT at anything above a stable 10-mg/day you'll have three to five relatively decent days before all hell breaks loose.

Unmitigated, you would then enter hell until released or transferred.

In my county they began daily dosing at the jails about the time fent hit our streets - 2016-ish.

You need professional guidance. Best wishes and goddamn if nobody helps you, I hate prohibition as much as county lock-ups.
