I am stuck with this horrible habit and am trying to figure a way out. Every time I try it seems like I'm ready for it but then some new feelings start emerging or some new twist that makes it so hard. The restless legs are really bad and even worse is the constant sense of anxiety and low/depressed mood all the time. Does anyone have ideas of things to try or anything that helps. I want to stay away from Suboxone as I only hear success stories from people who are still on it and it seems like many horror stories for those that tried to quit suboxone itself. I just need help, has anyone here gone through it and been done for awhile and feel completely normal again?

There are literally thousands of threads on this on BL. Search tool is your friend......

BUT.....

to sum it up..

If you cant see a dr or dont want to, get plenty of immodium AD (loperamide) and maybe some DXM cough syrup. Some people say benedryl but it makes WD worse IMO

If you are going to a dr, try and get clonidine patches or pills or both and maybe some phenegren for nausea.

Only take suboxone if you absolutely have to.

It is different for everyone, but after a few weeks you will feel normal (depending on the opiate you were on IE long acting vs short acting)

Good luck man.

I know exactly what you mean...I have had a opiate issue for years and I got hooked on them through my doctor. When he first perscribed them to me I had no knowledge of opiate. I was very naive. I had only ever did weed in high school. I have found that if you can get a hold of tylenol 3 or 4 or 222's they help as well as neurotin. Use the tylenol to taper and the neurotin for the restless leg and anxiety. Even if you cant get the 3's or 4's the neurotin helps a ton. Also with some immodium AD. Good luck and with the anxiety keep telling your self its just the withdrawal doing it and keep busy with repeatative activity. For example I knit and paint and it helps with the anxiety. I have found that if i just run around aimlessly the anxiety is worse. I hope this helps.

Medicine Cabinet nailed it... both with good suggestions and his admonition to use the search engine.

A great place to start would be the directory which I have linked in my signature below. There are a few withdrawal threads in there including the most comprehensive one - The Guide to Narcotic Withdrawal.

I think that thread as well as the hundreds of others that you can find around here should give you LOADS of information.

If you have any questions, feel free to private message me and good luck!
