hello :)

I've been trying to research on the best supplements specifically for joint health. Clicked the search button but only found a thread for supplements in general. Tried googling but all i found were supplements that treat arthritis, tendonitis and such.

I'm 25 yrs old and so far I've no problems with arthritis/ rheumatism and the like but I want to make sure that my i keep my joints healthy. I have a female gym mate in her 30's that had 2 swollen knees. The doctor said that the cartilage on both her knees are worn down from too much exercising. I spin/run/dance 5 days a week for at least an hour so I got a bit paranoid about my joints and wanted to take precautions.

Daily I take vit e (400 iu), vitC (1000mg), Fish oil (2000mg) a table spoon or 2 of chia seeds and sometimes a table spoon of ground flax seeds. I read that omega 3 can help with joints but I'm not really sure if this is enough. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance <3

if your looking to reduce stress on your joints, limit the high impact exercise you do.

swimming is a good replacement for running.

Take more fish oil. I take ~5000mg/day, not including the loads of salmon, sardines, anchovies, nuts and seeds I eat. Seriously. Therapeutic effects happen when you take 5g, otherwise, it's just maintenance.

Keeping overall inflammation levels down is a good idea too, even if you don't have arthritis, so I'd recommend eating anti-inflammatory foods (ginger, kale, greens, fish, turmeric, etc.) and keeping sugar intake to a minimum (see my thread called "No More Sugar.") I've got RA, so.

If you don't have inflammation, however, like your gym partner, then I don't think you have much to worry about. You can tell her my advice.

and what he^ said about non/low-impact exercising.
