For those of us that love prog, we don't half love hearing to a Focus album or Dark side of the moon. For me, the quintessential and my favourite prog album of all time is Close to the edge by Yes. Closely followed by You by Gong. Also fabulous to hear new things coming through too like Opeth! So what are your favourite prog and/psychedelic artists of all time?

I've never actually listened to Mastodon! My brother suggested them but I didn't know they were prog. I must give them a try! Any particular album you'd suggest? :)

When it comes to progressive metal, Language by The Contortionist is one of my favorite albums. Polaris by TesseracT deserves a mention, too.

If you like instrumentals, check out CHON, their most recent album is great, very technical.

I ate a tesla and and an 1/8 of boomers on Saturday night and listened to Yes and ELO for like 4 hours. It was awesome.

Oh yeah can't go wrong with a bit of king crimson! My mate is really into Robert fripp. Won't stop going on about him haha! No so into ELO but love yes! What albums did you have on? Listened to a lit the other night as well as early Deep purple stuff and some post punk prog stuff. Was excellent!

I think the German bands from the 70s deserve a mention; Faust, Can, Tangerine Dream, Neu! and the like.

I don't know if you'd call them prog, but certainly psychedelic in a unique sort of way.
If you guys haven't explored "krautrock", you're in for a treat.

Oh krautrock is excellent! I've listened to Neu! and Kraftwerk a lot and actually own the album "Ricochet" by tangerine dream. Must check the others out. Indeed I'd say it was progressive. Or at least ahead of it's time! :)

I certainly wouldn't call them prog, but they are kind of psychedelic and totally brilliant, so why not mention them.

Faust are my favourite.
i'll never forget the first time i heard Mamie is Blue, peaking on LSD.
Inspired me go out and buy an old synthesizer. :)

For those who haven't seen it, this documentary is a great into to - and overview or the horribly named "krautrock" era:

excellent stuff and a fascinating branch of psychedelia.
