I hope you mean the 2007 soundtrack. Because the score for the 1986 animated feature is seriously rad to the maxx.

I liked that one a lot, too. I know it used Brian Eno's "An Ending (Ascent)" when they were first driving through the countryside, which just might be the most gorgeous song ever.

"Traffic" used it, too, at the end when Benicio Del Toro looks out on the baseball field his efforts built. Speaking of "Traffic," I really think the music makes that film. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for lonely, ambient pieces. :)

I can't believe no one has already said this:
Flash Gordon. "FLASH! AAAA-AAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
Queen did a lot of good soundtracks. The Highlander, Iron Eagle...

Ennio Morricone's score for The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Ive shed tears during The Ecstasy of Gold.

Also, I love the soundtracks to the Terminator movies.

When I'm feeling melancholy or just want to work quietly, I listen to the soundtracks of the Fountain and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. <3

Southland Tales

However, the album does a shit job and is missing a lot of good songs. The movie includes:

Muse
Killers
The Pixies
Radiohead
Blur
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Big Head Todd and the Monsters (confusing, but enjoyable)

Requiem for a Dream
Fight Club
The Fountain (basically any Clint Mansell)
The Jacket
Lord of the Rings
Lords of Dogtown

I don't really listen to soundtracks though.

Movie Soundtracks - what are your favorites?

What are you favorite movie soundtracks? Lately I've been loving Tron: Legacy, Batman Begins, Inception, and then for some classical, Pride and Prejudice and Black Swan (which is mostly just Swan Lake).

I find sometimes soundtracks only work well within the film itself, and not as a collection of songs flung on to an album. Anyway, here are some of my personal favourites for varying reasons.

Tank Girl is all about the soundtrack imo (which was compiled by Courtney Love btw), cuz lets face it, it's a bit of a crap film. I still enjoy watching it for old times sake though. And quite possibly cuz the soundtrack ties each scene together pretty well. :)

I love many of the songs in Ghost World, but particularly like the original score composed for it by Daivd Kitay:

.

And All Over Me got me into a lot of bands I only dreamed of existing at the time. One of the songs which I continue to have much love for even 13 years after seeing it (Christ! 8o) is Hole In The Ground by Helium. Mary Timony (from Helium) is now one of my favourite female solo artists because of it. And of course it features this awesome song by The Amps.

Like Tank Girl SubUrbia hasn't really stood the test of time, and is also another film which is mainly held together by it's soundtrack. Gotta love the version of Sunday by Sonic Youth on there. There's also a Butthole Surfers track in it. :)

Nowhere is another favourite cuz of the Sonic Youth, Hole, Chemical Brothers, and Elastica tracks.

And just for the record, I hate it when they put different versions of songs on the soundtrack to the film. That's always been a pet hate of mine. :X

The Lost Boys soundtrack was pretty cool too. T'is somewhat dated, but I wore that cassette out back in the day:

As for musicals, one of the most awesome soundtracks ever is (imo) Phantom Of The Paradise:

Special To Me
Faust (sung by Winslow)
Goodbye, Eddie, Goodbye

And then of course there's Hedwig And The Angry Inch :D:
