Best Benzo for Opiate Withdrawal - What should I get?

Hey guys. I have a Dr. Appointment tomorrow morning, and this doctor I am going to see apparently writes benzo's easily. I am going to try and get some Clonidine as well.

But which benzo do you guys think is 'best suited' for opiate withdrawal?

I was thinking of asking for either one of these.

Diazepam
Oxazepam
Bromazepam

Suggestions, feedback?

From those three Diazepam would be the one to go with but Clonazepam is the best suited in my opinion because of its long duration. Diazepam however builds up in your system and apparently lasts longer but I don't feel the effects longer than 4 hours after dosing. Gradually it feels subtle. I feel the "initial" effects of Clonazepam from anywhere 8-12 hours.

Agreed. I totally know what you mean about Diazepam's duration. Even though Diazepam has a long half life, the duration of its effects are not very long at all as you said, like 4 hours. Even Alprazolam's duration of effects last longer than Diazepam.

I would go for that one as well. Long duration, potent, very relaxing.

Be sure not to use them for more than a couple of weeks. I have never been dependent on benzos, only tramadol, but I heard benzo dependence is horrible.

Clonazepam or alprazolam are my suggestions

I didn't see withdraw part. I like tram for withdraws. It really lifts my mood cause I get realllllly sad when I'm going through wds

Tramadol causes severe dependency, too. Sometimes I run out early before refill date and have to face it. Alprazolam is very helpful in stopping the shaking and restlessness from tramadol withdrawal. So, from my experience, try alprazolam for your opioid withdrawal. Works quickly, but short-acting. May have to re-dose a few times throughout the day as needed. Not to exceed the FDA max of 24 hour alprazolam dose.

well this I'd my first time even taking tramadol but il make sure to not make ahabit of it. Do you think taking celexa while taking tram could cause worse sides? Since it kinda does the same thing

I just plugged into an interaction checker. Mixing Ultram (tramadol hcl) and Celexa (citalopram) is listed as "MAJOR" in terms of possibility of interactions.

Its states that mixing these two can increase your risk of seizure and, or serotonin syndrome. If you mix these two drugs it must be done under a doctor's care.

Are you prescribed Celexa?
You're not prescribed tramadol right?

I have already have had a benzodiazepine dependency, and feel like I am not totally over it. (Especially after finishing off 90mg of phenazepam in about 3 days - which I do not even remember). Ugh this sucks. I only got prescribed 15 5mg diazepam, and 10 0.1mg clonidine. I need to look at IOPs for benzo's it looks like since it is so hard to get prescribed benzos in Canada especially when you need them.

Ya I'm prescribed celexa

Klonopin or Valium, I always preferred klonopin, ideally you could get one long acting benzo and some xanax too. But benzo addiction is worse than opiate addiction in a lot of ways in my opinion so be careful.
