best and worst finale to a tv series.............(possible spoilers)

Well one of the all time classics in television has to be the finale too Twin Peaks.......

Some people criticise the ending, but as far as breaking down cliche barriers and turning the entire 4 series's on it's head, the insane finale rocks!!

I love the manner in which through the entire show, Cooper is portrayed as the all good, knowing and in a sense indestructable agent who is hell-bent on stoping the "evils" of the town.........only to succomb to the black lodge and BOB at the very climax....!!!!

HOW'S ANNIE?!

On different notes, i thought the endings to Buffy and the x Files were not bad as well
 
third watch just had their finale. explosive (ha) and full of action... but so neat and tidy. too much so for me.

Right on! Cheers had the best finale ever. What a great end to a great show.

Norm's little speech after everyone else had left was priceless.

"You know what I love Sammy?"
"Beer Norm?"
"Yeah sure I'll have a quick one"

And Sam at the very end.

"Sorry. We're closed"
 
Cheers was one of those shows that touched me big time. Most of the episodes. I grew up on it, and remember being really sad when it was ending. Everytime I hear the theme song or see it on TV it still takes me back to being 10 years old sitting at my parents home watching it.

I didn't get most of the humor then, but through reruns enjoy it even more now.
 
Seinfeld did have a terrible finale. For a television show about nothing, I know I would have a hard time writing the finale.
 
I agree with both Blackadder and the office....great shows, great finales.......

The ending too seinfeld was a little pretensious and overblown....even for seinfeld.........has any of them achieved anything since they left????
Only Larry David seems to have....curb your enthusiasm is great!
 
I wasn't too thrilled with the finale of Carnivale (but I don't think it was intended to be the last word on the thing)....

Best finale is a tough one... Cheers was good, but I think I'll have to mull this one over a bit longer.

Buffy's best series finale was season 5, however..
Season 7 was cool... but the ending was... well....
i had my issues with it...

Newhart was a brilliant spin on the series finale...
