Bernie Sanders

I just think many lazy gen x parents forgot to teach their children about socialism. 90% of the Bernie bro friends I have do not have a clue. Bernie does awesome against trump in the polls bc he hasn't been vetted once by the media. Like playing tennis without the net is how I sum up his poll numbers and if you think otherwise you are a partisan fool.

His policies are the only ones being examined and there isn't much to vet, he is the only politician that has been saying the same thing for decades consistently. We already know his skeletons they just haven't run them 24/7 because no one thinks he can win.

Hopefully mellenials teach their children with Venezuela as the current example and Cuba.

How many times must it be explained to you that communism is not democratic socialism? Authoritarian socialists end up starving their nations because the entire world is against them, capitalism is king so any capitalist fascists regimes are ignored. Furthermore the world bank and all the corporations are entirely against them and thus they never had a chance to begin with. Of course yes dictators use socialism as a way to trick the poor and get into power but that is neither here nor there, all ideologies do that except socialism gets the focus because the people in power are threatened by it.

Capitalist regimes that end up starving and killing their people like in Chile just get ignored.

Socialism in its purest form is evil. Capitalism in its purest form is evil. This is why you combine them to cancel each others negative side effects out. Why don't you start a Trump thread and go jerk off there with your fellow piece of shit libertarian monsters instead of needling Sanders supporters?

Actually, I'd be willing to bet my entire fortune (such as it is) that Sanders supporters are, on average, better informed on current affairs, political science, history, and economics over Trump or even any other candidate's supporters (excepting possibly SPUSA and CPUSA voters) .

In much the same way that Daily Show watchers were shown on average to be better informed in said subjects vs Fox News watchers by an embarrassing margin (embarrassing for the mainstream guys).

There is such a thing where an individual just doesn't have enough mental faculties to recognize the intellectual superiority of an adversary. Roughly translated, that means you're too dumb to accurately gauge how much more intelligent we are.

Classic left have no cogent arguments/ points so name calling and denigrating ensues

Says the guy whose arguments boil down to "capitalism good, socialism bad" and never tries to defend it past that.

Keep felating the rich and thinking the poor are subhumans though how else will you get to sleep at night.

Ohhhhh, "cogent"...that's a good one, Droppers. I hope you didn't have to crack a thesaurus to get that...it IS a book after all, and if I understand it correctly, book-reading shall be outlawed in the new Trump regime.

Maybe we can have big 'ol community book burnings. Sort of like community-wide bonfires, but everywhere. How fun!

Democratic socialism only works in Scandinavian countries because they are more apt to accept mediocrity
The americal political culture seems to be at least as 'accepting' here. There are clearly some strong anti-intellectual sentiments present on the right wing, and i suppose much of trumps succes is based on these anti-intellectual sentiments.
There is a statistically significant correlation between IQ and political as well as moral views. People with higher IQ's tend to have more enlightened, liberal views. Studies done by neuroscientists Haidt as well as Greene indicates that people with higher IQ's also tend to be more ethically motivated.
I suppose that much of these anti-liberal sentiments are actually nothing but envy. It definately looks like many people who call themselves conservatives, actually envy the more enlightened attitude towards other people, that liberals tend to have. Hence, a climate of intellectual as well as moral mediocrity is being cultivated on the right.

I'd say these alleged polls are suspect at best. I think it comes down to work ethic, economic situation, and whether or not you subscribe to individualism or collectivism. Neither extreme is good and a balance is required I just tend to think the individualist right lean is better for society but as populations explode the argument for a more collectivist approach could make sense. Our country was founded with rugged individualism so deviation from this will take more than a gaggle of whiney teenagers wanting free stuff bc the economy sucks and people that feel like they were shorted bc they weren't given the silver spoon.

Well I was using that as an example of the level of privilidge I endured and overcame. Luckily my father was not a socialist. You live in fantasy land out there in California most of America does not share the same values. This is why we have states rights and why they are important. After the a radical scotus globilization is my number one concern. Obama didn't scold Britain for threatening to leave the eu bc he believes in the eu. Sure them leaving could mess with markets and money values but there is a much greater agenda at hand.

oh droppers, you are so brave! you did something that only every single fucking teenager in europe does and for which they don't expect to be given a medal (unlike you).

silly droppers.

FMD, Droppers must be salivating at all the bites he is getting here. Unfortunately, it makes the thread almost impossible to follow because the illogical rants of a fucking idiot do nothing but distract from interesting discussion.

Ha, yeah. I've tried to be civil but the fact that he just ignores any specifics and refuses to debate any facts means he can go fuck himself. Every post is labeling himself the winner and/or calling poor people lazy while venerating the rich as ubermen. He's completely derailed the thread from Bernie Sanders.

Makes sense that more enlightened individuals will lean to the left. I think it is also safe to say that more psychopathic and sociopathic people thrive in a capitalist society due to their loser morals and ability to deem only themselves as individuals.

I don't get why people would want to vote trump. I see people like droppers argue along lines like: "he'll probably fuck things up big time and start WW-3 in the process, but hell....anything is better than the current mess". Many german people where thinking like that in the 30's, and boy...did they get change. I can see why people are dissapointed in the democratic party, but it seems as if people like droppers so to speak, rather have a pedophile for a babysitter than someone who just happens to fall asleep very often, because at least with the pedophile you know what you're paying for..or something like that. Because to me, preferring a totally irresponsible egotistic maniac over a status quo politician is much like that. Things can álways get worse. Always. Look at Greece, look at Brazil, look at Hungary or Poland.

You're right - people in the states who are having a tough time making ends meet now may be forgiven for thinking "it can't get much worse".
But history - even in the last century - has proven countless times that this is false.
Things can get a hell of a lof worse that the social and economic problems in the USA at the moment. Unfortunately the general public often have short memories (or have learned nothing from history) and are complacent about how important - on so many levels - good governance is.
I'm more concerned about Trump's absolute lack of experience as a public servant, than i am his stupid inflammatory rhetoric or his bigotry.
If anyone in the Presidential race at this stage has what it takes to nose-dive the country and its economy (taking much of the world economy with it) straight into the ground, it's Trump.
Nobody else comes close to competing with him as a political disaster waiting to happen.
As much as i don't want to see this happen, it is very hard to envisage a man of his ego, vanity and absense of integrity being able to lead the United States - even as a puppet-like figurehead leader smoothly through a term in office.

Regardless of his politics, he seems so obviously ill-equipped for the job.
