hey yall. Ill make this quick forgive my bad punctuation and such. i used to be on a lot of xanax and klonopin daily. i used to even abuse it a lot.
then i quit cold turkey. not because it was bad for me, just over it, wanted to get over my problems without drugs.

I started klonopin today again for my anxiety which has gotten out of control. I havent taken benzos in at least 4 or 5 months. (besides one sniff at a friends house a couple weeks ago.) I havent really been drinking much either, nor taking any other substances.

So far Im up to 4 mg of klonopin and I hardly feel a thing. I ALMOST feel sober. Anything thoughts? Bad batch? accidently filled lower dose? Just curious as to peoples insight. thanks. sorry if this is a stupid question im just curious what could cause this.

i've been addicted to benzos forever. here's a couple of things i've found

a) some generics are better than others. for example, the football shaped 0.5 xanax work way better than any circle shaped ones. i don't know why, but even my 67 year old mother agrees with me. osco carries them here in Illinois. They're the only store I can find those particular generics at.

b) as a xanax person for many years (5 - 7?), I have recently been given Klonopin. I don't feel a thing. People say that I am way more chill than I was an hour before, but I don't feel it. Klonopin is the supposedly most "non-addictive" benzo. If you were a newbie to benzos, perhaps you'd feel it?

c) I feel the same way about valium. I've been so xanaxed for so many years, I don't feel the valium at all. However, again, people say I'm way more chilled out than I was when I was having an anxious moment...

hope this helped a little?

The 1st ever benzo I tried was diazepam - totally clean - I felt nothing at all on 20mg.
It took 80mg to feel what my friend described she felt at 20mg.
Few years later I'm prescribed clonazepam - 0.5mg up to 4x a day.
I feel zilch at 0.5, though my mum says I seem more chilled, and this is like zero tolerance.
I rarely take them, once a month max, it takes 2mg to relax, chill n sedate. 3mg to sleep. Admittedly I use amphetamines and take other meds - perhaps they reduce efficacy.
I personally think it takes some people larger amounts than someone else to feel same effects - tolerance or not. Maybe you still have some tolerance, or maybe you're just not feeling the same effects at therapeutic levels as at abuse levels so think it's not working?
Chat with your prescribing doctor and see what he thinks, gonna have a better idea than any of us.

If you are getting drugs in america, it doesn't matter what manufactor is creating the drug, if it says .5mg there is .5mg in the pill. When drug users claim there is differences in generic medication it is in their head, and the mind is a powerful thing. Placebo effect can make a noticable difference in percieved effects.

Also, once you build a tolerance for benzos the tolerance doesn't decrease that significantly. You are probably experiencing the effects of tolerance. When using benzos for theraputic reasons, you shouldn't expect to get intoxicated. If you are getting intoxicated when dosing drugs for theraputic reasons, you are consuming to much, and the theraputic benefits will drop off extremely fast. The point of taking theraputic medication isn't to completely take away all of the symptoms experiencing, it is to reduce them to a managable level. Especially when it comes to dealing with anxiety, you need to learn how to manage you anxiety, and by taking extremely large dose of benzos you are really just being counter productive. You're modulating you gaba receptors so you overall anxiety levels will be higher when not on them, increase you tolerance significantly, and preventing yourself from learning new behaviors that can be benefical to overcoming your anxiety.

You should go seek out a counselor if you are considering taking benzos again. Consuming benzos for anxiety reasons with out getting help for your anxiety issues is quite silly and counter productive. The best thing for anxiety is learning to overcome it, and counselors can help you do this. Getting a counselor was one of the best things I ever did, and I've progressed so much since I started seeing her a few months ago.

If you are getting it prescribed for anti-anxiety, then the purpose isn't to be high, but rather prevent the signs of anxiety when they would arise. Do keep in mind the difference between getting high & using it for a medical reason for benzo's is much different. I take Lorazepam. 1mg won't do much, but 4-8 fucks me up. Zopiclone 3.75mg won't do much, but 15mg will.
