Benzos memory loss

My experience with benzos (mostly Xanax and klonopin) is mostly good. I generally enjoy the feeling they produce. The main problem I have is that whenever I use them, there are always lapses of time and things I did that I completely don't remember, which for me is a bit of a deal breaker. I understand that this comes standard to all benzos, but I was wondering if there are any tricks to having the least possible anterograde amnesia when taking benzos. I usually take 1-2mg of klonopin and .5-1.5mg of Xanax (separate occasions obviously).

The only way to prevent a benzo blackout is to not take as many benzos. Sorry if this isn't what you want to hear, but there really are no magic tricks to prevent it.

I do take pretty low doses, and I'm not specifically talking about a "blackout" so to speak. I remember the day but I'm missing important details/conversations. I had a feeling that this would be the case, though. I'll try taking even lower doses. Thanks for the input.

Yeah, that's just an unfortunate side effect of benzos. Try to take the lowest dose that's still therapeutic for you to minimize adverse effects.

Same thing happens to me with any GABAergic drug, including alcohol. It isn't a blackout but the day feels really foggy and I often forget key events. That's just the way those drugs are, probably the only way to somewhat stop this effect is by taking a stim with your benzos, but that just negates a lot of the benzo effect so it's not a very viable solution.

Try to change the benzo you are taking. Some benzodiazepines are known to be worst on memory, like Valium for example.

I'd love to experiment with different benzos but I'm currently limited as to what I can get my hands on. Thanks for all the input though.

Don´t give up man! I´m sure you´ll find a solution for your problem. Life is all divided in different phases.
And regardless of your issues, I believe one´s willpower shall prevail.
Good luck!
Erik

all benzos have some levels of amnesic properties some more than others
ativan for me took the cake for memory issues
