OK so I know that all benzodiazepines have anxiolytic & hypnotic properties among others but I was curious to as what you prefer, the "primarily" anxiolytic benzodiazepines (Klonopin, Ativan, Xanax, Valium) or the "primarily" hypnotics (Halcion, Restirol, ProSom). I have a reason for asking this, I was finally introduced to a doctor who is more than willing to prescribe me what I want and so I came home with 270x 5mg DextroStat, 30x 2mg Klonopin & 30x 30mg Restirol. Now, it the past Temazepam has always been my favorite benzodiazepine but after trying 90mg and 150mg of Temazepam I was quite disappointed. Sure, I felt comfortable and somewhat sedated for 45-60 minutes followed by drowsiness but it is nowhere as effective as the Klonopin. Just 2-4mg will produce some great anti-anxiety effects for nearly 6 hours. I feel sedated to a certain degree but not so much drowsy. I guess it may have something to do with the fact I suffer a great deal of anxiety and need those anxiolytic properties of Klonopin.
So which do you prefer? A predominant hypnotic or anxiolytic? I'd like to hear some comments
