would diazepam and alprazolam behave the same in terms of metabolites?

this question may seem odd:\

i am looking for differences=D

No.

Diazepam is metabolized to nordiazepam and traces of temazepam and oxazepam. Said metabolic reduction is slow, and nordiazapam lasts even longer. Eventually they get congugated with glucoronic acid and excreted.

Alprazolam on the other hand is rapidly metabolized to inactive metabolites.

An examination of the structures should make it clear that they can't yield the same metabolites, atleast not in any reasonable quantity.

thanks for your help- my friend is on a valium detox and is being tested to make sure he is on bezodiazepines sometime soon in a place where he cannot get his diazepam prescription (because he is allotted his dose from a chesmist in the uk on a daily basis as he cannot be trusted with a normal script) and it is then posted to north wales where they cannot do a daily dispensing service. anyway he is going to be in germany (i think from what he told me yesterday) and they are going to expect to see that there is diazpeam in his system as the woman who he asked said the only thing they were testing for was benzo's.

basically he is going to use xanax to tide him over as he cannot go without a benzo as he is a very high dose user and wants to make sure xanax will show up as postive for benzo's in the same way diazepam would otherwise there will be problems with the doctors.

he is doing a language degree and is split between three places one being germany. anyway he has confused the hell out of me but wanted an anwser so i tried my best. even though i still am not thoroughly sure what the problem is.

I think that alprazolam does have active metabolites, but activity is so much lower that they don't actually produce any effects in the doses involved.
