Benzos Benzo tolerance and dependance confusion

take a 3 week break and 14 to 20mg should work but the amnesia is hard to get with that kind of tolerance for amnesia i'd try a 3 week break and 30 to 40mg just be careful

I don't think it's in your best interest to continue taking high dosages of benzodiazepines. I may be mistaken, but it appears you are using them strictly for recreational effects.

Have you considered going off of benzodiazepines for good?

Thanks for the unbiased advice mate, I really appreciate it. What do you mean by amnesia, do you mean literally or that point where you are properly wasted and forget things, hence amnesia? We are not reckless in our drug use like most everyone else seems to presume. Both me and my girl have always had a ridiculously natural high tolerance for all drugs, to quote my beautiful woman; "I like my drugs to molest me!" :), heroin, morphine, oxycodone, methadone, buprenorphine methamphetamine, and especially both MDMA and benzodiazepines. For example, neither of us can get clonazepam to do it's job, it will work very occasionally and when it does its lovely. I find it seems to work if you haven't had it in a long while, regardless of whether or not we've been using other benzos, so it can't be a tolerance thing, I wouldn't imagine. Anyone else share similar experiences? Especially considering that its only recently that we have had trouble getting smoked from pills, regardless of what kind. We've dosed up to 20mg each with no effect! Again, thanks for the non judgemental reply.

I have had a number of grand mal seizures in the past after having us both gone through several bottles of 50mg without a break for around 2 weeks if my mind serves me correctly. The last seizure happened around a month ago or so.

That is scary to us. Remember, this is a harm reduction site and what you are describing is pretty much the opposite of harm reduction.

I just want to get one thing straight. So you take 20mg of alprazolam (xanax) ? I am just kind confused when you mentioned valium as well.

20mg of Xanax, and I have taken as much as 40mg. Not always though, and since I was cut off from my family doctor for allegedly "doctor shopping" after I went to see another doctor because his surgery was closed two days in a row, with no note in the window explaining why or for how long, and I *needed* my prescriptions (not just benzos, also antibiotics and Zyprexa), I have been having to purchase them on the street most of the time and around where we live in Australia they have become rather difficult to obtain. It seems that the doctors around here are cracking down as I know a few of the people I used to buy bottles from are no longer getting them prescribed. So we don't take them as regularly as some of you might think and be understandable concerned. For instance I purchased 9 x 2mg bars and we each had 9mg, the day before that we only had 4mg each. With regard to diazepam, I picked up a script for 50 x 5mg Roche brand Valium (as I find they actually work as opposed to the generic brands available. We will generally take between 50mg and 100mg if we are chasing a high.

I understand. I can see why those kinds of doses and the fact that I have had 3 or 4 seizures in the past occuring over the course of a a couple years. I found the first seizure scary as did my girl, the poor little thing, she thought I wasn't going to recover and must've had some sort of brain malfunction. Only after the most recent one did I put two and two together and realized that we had been taking large doses of alprazolam every day for a week or two. I know I should've recognised them for what they were, but as I wasn't suffering any other symptoms related to benzo withdrawal I presumed it wasn't related. I too, am all for harm reduction; I am always the first person to encourage people to use micron filters, sterile water and cotton and of course fresh picks. Most people around here are very ignorant and/or uninformed. I often will give away some of my equipment and explain how to use the filters and preach the dangers involved, and give advice, in whatever it is they are doing and I would absolutely not suggest these kind of dosages of any benzo to anyone. Since then, however I have been extra careful not to take them for too many days in a row without a break and knock on wood I haven't had another one. I also have an opiate habit as does my fiance. We are prescribed 16mg per day and have it in 2 shots. Thank you for your concern, it hasn't gone unnoticed. :)

Whilst we do use them for recreational purposes, due to the fact that the heroin around here is mostly a joke and as I was Subutex up until 4 days ago, it wouldn't work anyway. So benzos and speed have been our poison(s) since the heroin turned into this synthetic feeling white powder and occasionally rock that had a rather short duration and was just generally unpleasant. We would need to put away half a weight (500mg) to achieve a decent stone which in this country is a very expensive exercise. We were both on Subutex 32mg per day for a little over a year and then reduced to 16mg per day for probably close to a year. For the last couple of months we have been primarily using both alprazolam and diazepam to help with the withdrawals which they have greatly. So far we have gone through 60mg of Xanax over the first two days and then 250mg of Valium the next day after a whack of methamphetamine in the morning and last night we had 9mg of Xanax to ease the come down from the methamphetamine that we booted early that day. So far its been four days without any bupe and whilst we haven't got anything as yet, physically I feel fine as does my better half. However she is tearing her hair out with intense cravings for drugs so I'm just about to leave and go on the hunt. Tomorrow I would like to switch to loperamide as I have read that it is quite effective at eliminating the pain of withdrawal. Does anyone know what kind of dose I would need seeing as though I have a naturally high tolerance to everything and 16mg of bupe is a pretty high dose to jump off cold. Sorry if I went off topic, I just wanted you to know that we haven't been using benzos exclusively for recreational purposes. We have both found that regardless of the dosage buprenorphine just doesn't hold us properly, I mean it holds us but we are constantly sweating, bogged down with no energy, disasociated from each other and just generally feel lousy. The reason I guess we got into benzos, specifically alprazolam was because it was the only thing that made us feel better. It stopped the horrible and constant sweats and we felt normal. Even nowadays with our tolerance, before we jumped off the bupe, if I have had a small dose for me anyway, say 6mg, I wouldn't feel shit in the sense of euphoria or anything like that. I would just feel normal and all of the icky side effects of bupe would vanish and I would jump up and start tending to all the things that need doing that while on bupe wouldn't get done because we just couldn't be bothered. Lazy to the bone, the effort needed to change our bed sheet for instance was overwhelming and along with that we both felt very sombre, maybe even depressed. Has anyone gotten this kind of reaction to bupe? I've read the mega thread but couldn't find anything. This is exactly why both of us want off the shit and our lives back. So, at the present time I haven't considered ceasing my benzo use as we've had much else on our minds. Though I have thought about taking a few weeks break, maybe a month to get our tolerance back down. Once this shit is over I'll give it more serious thought and discuss it with my precious, best friend, and future wife.
