So some reading indicates that propylene glycol is used in pharmaceutical preparations as solvent for benzo's. Further reading also seems to show that it perfectly safe for oral dosing.

After playing with some propylene glycol I've noticed it looks and feels the same as my girlfriends brand of lube, closer inspection of my own brand of lube even has it listed as an ingredient.

This would make a rather convenient and discreet way for benzo dependent individuals to carry/dose their stash while travelling I'd say.

My question for ADD is how much clonazepam or alprazolam could be dissolved into 100ml propylene glycol. That and, what benzo's have the best solubility in this stuff; in terms of how much sedation could be compressed into a 100ml bottle =D

Doesnt have to be rocket science hard numbers, just enough so there's nothing significant left in the pill mass after filtration.

These threads http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/494195-Alprazolam-Solubility-in-Propylene-Glycol and http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/archive/index.php/t-626352.html seem to suggest that a solution 1mg/ml of alprazolam/Propylene-Glycol is possible and used in pharmaceutical product/s. Thats probably all the numbers I need for alprazolam, what I'm more interested in is clonazepam - as its more suitable for tapering.

I stumbled across the journal article "Prediction of drug solubility in water-propylene glycol mixtures using
Jouyban-Acree model"
which indicates propylene glycol is a water miscible cosolvent.
This interests me highly. Flight nasal spray 'hydration' products exists, are water based and could serve as a discreet medium. The article doesnt go over benzo's, but I'm curious as to if a solution of say 5ml of 1mg/ml aprazolam/propylene solution was mixed with 10ml of water (15ml total) - whether some of the alpraz would precipitate out of solution and make dosing un-accurate.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would make a 10% ethanol/90% PPG mixture. PPG by itself is quite thick...

The ethanol would thin it out, and still allow great solubility.

It shouldn’t be anywhere near enough ethanol to cause even the slightest head change.

I made a mix of 5ml PG and 10ml water to test viscosity, it was minimal and near indistinguishable from water without close inspection

I may try the ethanol solution out of curiosity though (odor is an issue..). I'm using it currently to remove the pill mass from the bars, filtering as I type.

If you think the ethanol will reduce viscosity I may leave some unevaporated when dissolving the alpraz into the PG.

Thanks for the idea =)

with phenazepam I was able to completely dissolve 10mg/ml in pg with a decent amount of heating and shaking. it's pretty close in structure to clonazepam, but I have no idea if the numbers are comparable.

If you're going to use ethanol anyway, what do you need the PPG for? I've dissolved pure alprazolam and diazepam in ethanol - alprazolam at 1 mg/ml and I think diazepam at 10 mg/ml. Never noticed the alcohol effect, I never really abused them that way.

The PPG is more desirable for concealment.

It dissolved fine at 1mg/mL. There didn't appear to be much if any product loss when washing the pill mass with ethanol. I consumed the filtrate after drying and effects felt well under 2mg, from 50mg worth of pills I'd say this is minimal.

The 1mg/mL PPG solution was used to make a 0.5mg/mL PPG + Water solution. Nothing appeared to precipitate out of solution and is fully miscible.

Just out of curiosity my friend, are you telling me you wasted 50mg of diazepam for a final consumable yield of ~2mg? Or did I misunderstand you?

Definitely misunderstood haha. I extracted ~50mg of alprazolam from pills, then consumed the pill mass left over after filtering. I found the effects to be well under 2mg, meaning the extraction was successful. Tested the final solution on my housemate to confirm this.

Nothing wasted in my house =)

That only applied if viscosity was an issue and he still needed to conceal smell.

But water will do as well. I hadn't thought of such high numbers in dissolving benzos. I do agree
