I got some diazepam and already know that benzo w/d is the emperor of all withdrawals and I wanna play it safe. How long before withdrawals would become an issue? I only plan on dosing maybe once or twice a week.

We get this question all the time. I would encourage you to search around in the future. You haven´t done anything wrong. It´s just that we get this one on average every couple of weeks in one form or another. You could answer your own question and help us save on clutter. I get that you´re new my friend. Don´t take this as anything other than a lesson in using the forums :)

Benzodiazepines are going to produce a ¨noticeable¨ withdrawal in most people following 2-4 weeks of daily or near-daily usage. It´s important to note, this is different for everybody. All we can do is provide you with a very rough estimate and that is what this is.

If you are using a single, small dose (no more than 15mg-20mg at most), no more than twice a week, I´d wager you could go for a very long time without developing a dependence. Too often though, we make the mistake of conflating ¨the number and statistics¨ as being parallel with human behavior. It is a nice idea to imagine using Benzodiazepines responsibly, ad infinitum without ever making any mistakes. This is possible and people do it. However, you need to ask yourself why you are using the Diazepam. You could also NOT use the Diazepam, so what is it that is driving you to acquire and use this substance despite knowledge of the potential consequences.

You need to be realistic. The same drivers that lead you to acquiring the Diazepam in the first place will often evolve into the reason why you should take an extra dosage ¨this one time¨. I´m not trying to be fire and brimstone, but Benzodiazepines ruin lives when they get out of control, sometimes irreparably. I know people who would literally kill for the opportunity to go back and never touch Benzodiazepines.

I would advise you to only use these when you are having moments of acute anxiety. They should have a ¨break glass in case of emergency¨ role in your personal pharmacopeia. Like Opioids, they are great medicine, miraculous even, when used responsibly. When they aren´t, things fall apart quickly.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I did do a search beforehand maybe I need to up my searching abilities but didn't find anything immediate about benzos. I apologize for adding to the fluff. I'm coming here from reddit, which is not only super moderated but also just a lot of rude people, rude and holier than thou mods, but I digress.

I have had my run of hardcore addictions so I understand I may be in over my head. I'm just hoping the fear of developing dependency is enough to keep me using responsibly.

I've wondered this many times also as i've pushed the boundaries with clonazepam a fair few times. All I ever came out with was that there are too many variables for their to be a hard science to it.

Here's my anecdotal 2c: Avoid redosing, avoid increasing dosage and avoid consecutive use. The three pillars. If you do end up 2 weeks in, be sure to take at least double that off for good measure.

The first few times you push the boundary, you may get a bit of a rebound or you may not. I feel tolerance is a great measuring stick. When 20mg no longer does it's job, and I mean not just slightly weaker but noticeably weaker that's a very good sign the cogs of dependency are starting to move. Once those gears start moving, they may move slow if your responsible, but they don't stop.

I've managed to use responsibly and dodge any bad effects for 3-4 years now. Tolerance never went up much either. However very, very recently I did a 2 week stint on 2mg to push through work pressure. Those 2mg's went from knocking me out and immune to anxiety to barely touching the sides. This really concerned me and will be my final irresponsible stint . I personally expect even with a long break this will never go down and I'm fine with that, dont find them recreational at all so happy to keep them locked away for once-a-blue-moon situations. I pride myself on my responsibility but i'll be damned if they didn't sneak up on me this time around just like everyone says they do.

In summary

1. Daily use will take you to dependence town eventually no matter what, we all know this. 1-2 a week max, once a fortnight better, sporadic use with months off in between = ideal.
2. Keep a close eye on your dose and tolerance. Don't let another 5mg slide in here and there. Set a limit (20mg's a nice round number) and never exceed it. Don't lose track of how many days in a row you've taken them (write in notes on your phone). The day 20 becomes 30 is the exact moment you need to bail on em and not look back.

Used responsibly you can run on for a long time with benzos sure, but just keep in mind many responsible men have been fine for decades and still slipped up and ended up with the benzo flu. Stay vigilant. This isn't just to avoid WD's, it'll also go a long way in protecting the magic.

I feel stupid for not having heard of this before. I recently came across something on the World Wide Web known as the 2-2-2 rule. It is popular in Europe. It specifically refers to Alcohol usage. I believe it could also be useful for users of substances like Benzodiazepines. It is easy to understand, remember and apply to one´s life.

Essentially it is:

No more than 2 drinks in one sitting (What do we say here? Perhaps 0.5mg-1mg Clonazepam is a unit, which would make 2mg the maximum)
Never two nights in a row
Not more than 2 nights a week

This doesn´t apply perfectly to our discussion, however, I think it is something worth putting to memory.

How dare you you bad mouth those awful pieces of shit on reddit, lol.

Having a solid plan with drugs that cause dependence withdrawals when they are not prescribed to you, is needed.

Even when prescribed there is slim room to chase a "buzz." The "Ol' justification and rationalization" is mind fuckery. The checks and balances never come out right, the tolerance increases too fast, back peddling does not work with benzos, and plus altering a doctor's orders with benzos (non-compliance) becomes a losing game.

Taking for recreational purposes like the others mentioned 2 times a week.

I prefer Valium because of the 20hr half-life and I take 2 different opioids daily. that blackout shit can either take the window or it can take the stairs.
